Hi All!
I'm selling my trusty, useful scooter. I'm moving to the burbs and I won't be needing it. The school is close to home and the buses are awesome out there.
The bike is a 125cc Evolution BMTA. I bought it new in November of 2008 so it's still pretty new. There are only 5100 Km on it. There are a few scratches but nothing major. I was really anal about keeping it in good shape so I changed the oil regularly. I just replaced the brake pads about two months ago but it hasn't needed any other work. I just had a mechanic look at it and he said that everything was in good shape.
This is a good deal because it's a low mileage bike and I'm selling everything with it. I am throwing in the rain gear, two helmets, a rain cover, bike lock, handle warmers that are on there now, and even the face warmer. It comes with the papers in case you want to register it though I never did. Who wants a license plate when you're running red lights?
Here are the pics of everything: http://www.flickr.com/photos/44337911@N08/4365122150/in/photostream/
I'm in Haebangcheon and I want to sell it next week or the week after. I am asking 800,000 but I'm negotiable.
PM or email at [email protected].
Thanks!

Who wants insurance (and therefore registration and a license) when you're riding a 125 in Seoul?
Me. and, dear potential buyer, you. Check the motorcyle thread in General Discussion if you're unclear about any of that.
Oh, and you still get to jump the lights. The only time having a plate vs. not having a plate is likely to be a disadvantage is if the rear of your bike is photographed (static / speed cameras only catch the front) while you're violating a rule. This weighs against being stopped and checked with no license / registration (consequences vary depending on your Korean and the mood of the officer) or getting into an accident with no insurance (fine plus repairs / medical bills / reparations etc., good luck with that). |

You're right deizio. Not getting insurance is a risk. If something happens, it can be very expensive to fix. The reason that I never did it is because I never had time. I work the same hours that any government building would work so I wouldn't be able to go do any of that until vacation which I am usually out of the country.
I have heard that getting the license/registration/insurance is all pretty simple and painless. I didn't know about all of that when I got my first scooter about three years ago and it was maybe two years before I learned about any of it and by then I decided that it wasn't a worth the time for me. However, accidents do happen and it may be in the driver's best interest to get all of that themselves. |

It's pretty straightforward. I took my UK car licence to the DMV here, an hour or so later i had a korean car licence which is good for a 125. co-worker helped with insurance and I transferred the registration from the foreigner who owned the bike before me at my dong office. I was involved in an accident a few months later, unhurt and imo not really my fault but i got blamed. if i hadnt been legal and insured it would have been very expensive.. |

New rules in effect as of January. No longer is a car license good enough for any scooter/motorbike 125cc or under. You now have to get a proper license. I haven't driven with a license plate for 6 years here and never had a problem. Just play dumb. It seems to work just fine. Recommend getting a drivers license though. |

I have always played dumb when I have been stopped which has been only been twice. Once was for making an illegal U turn, which I did right in front of the cop. Dumb mistake. The other time I was stopped was just about a month ago for driving on the sidewalk. The cop was pretty serious about me having a Korean license. I just played ignorant. I don't know if he would have let me go if it wasn't for the other scooter driver that came around the corner while I was stopped. The cop just gave us a frustrated looked, laughed and told us to go on.
Anyway, I have heard that it's really simple to get a license over here but again, I haven't had time to do it or I would have by now.
It doesn't help that they keep changing the laws every year. |

Still looking for a definite buyer. I have several interested but it's first come, first serve. I would really like to get rid of it this week. Willing to negotiate on the price.
It's a really nice bike.
