My NYC friend, who knows nothing about Korea/Korean culture, went to a jimjilbang the other day. She did all the general things: hot tub soaks, saunas, nude exfoliation by a nude grandma. It was $15. She didn't eat any of the food, but she said the restaurant was filled up. She was a little surprised by the exfoliation, as she didn't realize granny went all the way into the cracks and crevices to clean. She said it was great, and she liked it better than the foofy-fa spas she is generally used to going to. I can't remember which one she went to, but I don't think it was one of the ones in Flushing, maybe one in Manhattan. |

Goodness that brought me back - that was pretty much my reaction to the exofoliation the first time! |
