I'm in a hotel, but am looking around for apartments. Will the landlord automatically change the locks, or is this something that I have to do myself? |

I think you'd likely have to do it yourself, with exceptions maybe. Most landlords will just get the keys back and transfer them to the new tenant. |

And it probably wouldn't be safe to leave the old locks, right? For my last officetel, it was the school's, so I don-t know if they changed the locks or not. They didn-t even have keys. It was all digital. |

It is YOUR responsibility to change the locks or lock codes for YOUR security. |

You'll be better off if you buy an electronic combination lock anyway. Usually, the guy selling them will come over and install it for you. Just keep the old lock and keys so you cna swap it over and take the combination lock with you in case you move to another place in Korea. We paid about 120,000 Won for ours and it come with several electronic keys.

Yeah, you have to change it yourself. For a normal lock, it cost me about 40,000 for the guy to come over and install it. That includes the price of the new lock. Make sure you get spares.

Do you have a Korean friend (outside of school) who can help you with this? That's best. If not, ask someone at school to help you. |

You can see the locksmiths all over the place. They usually have a ton of locks in their shop windows. |

Nope, no Korean friend. I have some foreign friends, however, they-re either away travelling or moving house, etc.
So. . . guess it'll be an adventure. Someone at school said he'd look over the contract, so I hope that he can help me find a locksmith. I-m just really pressed for time. I-m hoping to find a place in a week. |
