안녕,

I was mulling over the idea of getting a PC when I'm over there after a month or so.

My reasoning is because I'm a music composer, and these days composers generally require pretty darn powerful computers to run their 2TB of hefty software, production, mixing and so forth.

So what is the pricing, availability and reliability of PC's over there?

I was thinking, if I were to get one, I'd spend around 800 max (1,425,543 KRW or... $1300 ish). Am I going to get ripped of, or more bang for my buck compared to the West?

Thoughts about specs would be...

4GB+ ram
1TB HDD
Quad core 3.2ghz +
Windows, not Mac. Don't like mac.
Good sound card, but not fussy if I can simply upgrade at a later date.
Not too fussed about graphics card.

Cheers y'all

Andy

Can you do it in your price range = yes.

Will you get ripped off?
Compared to US pricing, yes, prices here are higher.
Compared to UK pricing, no, prices here are comparable or less

caveat: if you know what you want and get out of the I'park mall/techno mark mentality you can do quite well. It helps since you can read Korean and can read the pricing on the signs posted at the computer shops.

Refreshing news to hear. I reckon I'll get some luck hunting the little shops then, over a franchise. Will also make sure to compare with UK prices for the same deal then also.
