This question applies to the classroom. I cannot seem to pretend to be angry. I rarely get angry, but when I do it is real. Today was the first time in quite a while I got a bit angry in class. It worked, they shut up and sat still, but I felt a bit lousy even though I thought it was a sensible reaction at the time. They were surprised I guess as I am usually quite easygoing and a bit of a joker. But when certain kids carry on too much, don't have their book, notebook... etc... and seem to be wasting time and money in my class, occasionally I guess a bit of angriness is called for. But I don't really ever remember pretending to be angry. I actually do get angry and it stays with me a good while. |

I minored in theatre, so I can do basic acting business, but I'd by no means call myself a good actor.
The biggest trick is just letting go of that feeling of embarassment, or worrying about what you look like when you do something, stuff like that. Stage fright is very real in the classroom, and it'll kill a class faster than you can say "boosnikita". |

I go to lengths to avoid getting angry because it affects me for a while afterwards... Usually i'm never really angry at the kids, but some of the older ones know better, and specialise in goofing off. Thats what gets me.. and the fact that there's not a whole lot you can do.. I mean, if I had adequate disciplinary options, i wouldn't have much need for a temper.
i'm a fairly good actor: years of serving the public and being in jobs that require a high level of patience with people, have instilled into me a series of temper contol mechanisms.. |

I think theater is fun...not all that dull lighting and sound shit, but the REAL goods! |

I have NO acting experience, and NO acting training... however I consider myself a GREAT actor... Sometimes when asked for my occupation I simply write "actor" why ?
- specialising in elementary student teaching I find the best way to have them study, behave, keep interest and have fun is for the teacher to be an actor... it works... (you get called Babo many times... but you win all the attention and good grades from your students).
It also makes your day and your students lesson much more enduring... |
