My speeds have been bouncing on uTorrent for a while, but I just found out why on another forum. (HT to Shadowman at BitHQ)
Basically the default uTP settings aren't so good for those with faster connections, which is most of us here in Korea.
Anyone who's been having problems with fluctuating speeds should follow these steps:
Quote: |
Go to:
Options > Preferences > Advanced, bt.transp_disposition set to 5, and uncheck "Enable bandwidth management" in Options>Preferences>BitTorrent.
This will disable uTP so you won't be throttled, at least by uTorrent.
For users of uTorrent 1.8.3 - 1.8.5, you may want to go to Options > Preferences > Advanced, bt.transp_disposition set to 5 to disable uTP.
To help prevent your ISP from throttling you, go to Options > Preferences > BitTorrent and set Outgoing Protocol Encryption to Enabled or Forced. |

That's interesting. Thanks.
Since you've been doing some research, is there any way to get the system to give us faster connections to oversea seeds? Does this help?
It seems the system gives preference to nearby peers, and even when there are dozens of peers, sometimes I only get a few that are very slow. And when I am seeding, often no one connects. I am on a slow DSL connection.
Any ideas? |
