My co-teacher heard from one of her friends that GEPIK isn't allowed to give out letters of recommendations. Is this true?
I don't even want it for Korea, just want to bring it home so my next employer doesn't think I'm a total scumbag. She's checking into it to see, but does anyone have info? |

Couldn't the co-teacher do a reference that didn't refer to GEPIK? She could write something like, "I am a senior teacher who works with HockeyGuy, and my professional opinion is that the man is not a scumbag."
I've already asked my co-teacher if she could write me a reference later on, for grad school, and she said no prob. |

My co-teacher wrote one for me. She needed a lot of help with it though. |

Your school admin office will issue a letter of confirmation of employment indicating start date, end date, name of school, identification of employee (you) and the school stamp.
They may charge you a few hundred won for it. |

Write the letter yourself have the principal sign it. Have the school letterhead on it. |

I worked for SMOE. I believe they have the same policy as well. But I had my VP write one for me (it was in Korean) but I needed that for future employment in Korea.
Like someone else said write it yourself in English and have it put on the school letter head and have it stamped and signed either by admin (VP) or your co teacher. |

Yeah, turns out they do give letters. She was just confused for some reason. False alarm.
But, PS: Anyone else going to have to start working 9 hour days next month under GEPIK? Apparently our 1 hour lunch break is no longer considered part of the 8 hour workday. The contract is so vague around that issue, I guess there's nothing they can do about it. Glad I only have 4 weeks left in my contract. |

Is this for real?
If so, glad I got out of Gepik when I did....
are Epik / EPIC / CEPIK etc also going with this, anyone know....? |
Who knows...when they first told me about it, I went right for my contract and upon reading it, it is EXTREMELY vague and doesn't say whether or not the 1 hour lunch is included in the 8 hour working day. I suppose they made it vague for that very reason.
Anyone starting a GEPIK school on March 25th should shoot me a private message to make sure its not their new school. |
