Where can I get some good guacamole (I stress the good part). I had pretty mediocre Mexican at some place in Hongdae but I have a craving for chips and guacamole and want to know if there's a good restaurant to get it from or even possibly a store that sells it. Asking for a lot with the store but whatever. |

Try the Guacamole Live! at On the Border in Sinchon or COEX. They prepare it fresh at your table...however they don't use limes since they're apparently too expensive.
It's the best I've had in Korea, hands down. |

No sweat.
I'm just glad I got to respond before someone jagoff jumped in with a "this is Korea/if you like guacamole so much go back to your home country" comment. |

Yeah...tried that and it was like 2.5 times more expensive than at the restaurant, and I had to do the dishes. Stick with OTB. |

Beware of the avacados from Costco... We've puchased them several times with some mixed results with quality. They look good on the outside but they can be black and stringy on the inside... Major buzz kill when your taste buds are all set and you discover you just paid a bunch of cash for bad avacados. |

Avacados grow all year round. They dont ripen until you pull them off of the tree.
Guacamole
3 avacados
2 tomatoes Gutted/diced
cilantro, cilantro, cilantro
1-2Jalapenos
1 red onion
Optional: garlic, lime, roasted vegetables
Make it really chunky, thank me later |

I would not jive up your guac with onion, but a clove of slivered garlic is almost essential. |

Where did you go in Hongdea? I've been to Dos Tacos in Hongdea (and Gangnam) and it is pretty good Mexican, well for this country anyways. |

Haven't seen guac at Costco since winter 2008 I think. Very sad.
Thanks for the recipe. Will have to give it a try.
On the border live Guac will set you back about 16,000W but sounds well worth it if you are sharing. |
