| I still use an iPhone 2G (of course in Korea, its just a glorified iPod Touch) so there are easier ways to update to 3.1.2 (cooked firmware). But I noticed that since I run 3.1.2, my battery drains even when I don't use the phone. I never switch it off completely, just leave it in suspende mode, and before the update I could put it away for a week and pick it up with hardly any battery power lost. Now it loses 20% battery within a day. What I can see is that the iPod player is still running in the background after I stop the music, this is different from the previous version. Still... anyone knows about this problem or is this now par for the course? |
Are you using push notifications? that can cause battery drain. |

Ok I got blackra1n to work
Not to hard once you know how
had to load a bunch off aps AFTER blackrain to make it work
I now run PC suite for iphone instead of itunes.
Working well |
i've done blackrain once and i did reboot it again.but after that it come out with emergency call which i need to bring to KTF.now i am in malaysia for a holiday and i want to unlock my iphone 3gs (which i just bought late december) .if you don't mind, could you please tell me how you jailbreak or unlock it again? |
You mean that it comes up with Emergency Call as the only option? Once when I did a restore itunes said I didn't have a valid sim card, and the phone would only give me the option of making emergency calls. Well i found out all I had to do was take out and reinsert the SIM, and then itunes confirmed my phones activation. Sounds like itunes is having problems confirming your phone has been activated before? Try putting in the Original sim and connecting to itunes. if all else fails i guess you could try hackivating it, but that has some down sides to it. |

No, afaik I have turned off anything that doesn't relate to normal iPod functions (since my 2G wouldn't work as a phone here anyway). Definitely related to the 3.1.2 firmware since it started immediately after I upgraded from 3.1.
Oh well, I will have to get used to daily charging and perhaps switching the phone off completely when I don't use it. |

Absolutely. Part of the jailbreak procedure (at least some of them) is to use iTunes for the process (by loading a "fixed" firmware update) and also you can restore a backup afterwards.
I am now on FW 3.1.3 and that has solved the battery drain issue, I'm back to recharging on a weekly basis rather than daily.
I have an old 2G and have been using the process described in this link http://www.redmondpie.com/sn0wbreeze-3.1.3-jailbreak-iphone-3g-3gs-3.1.3/ since 3.0.1. Anything better (3G or 3Gs) and make sure you read the entire text and warnings before doing anything to your phone.
iTunes store is also working after jailbreak. |
