I need a vacation and I'm going to take one this summer. (May-June) time frame. What are some of the better locations to vacation at in Korea, and why?

GOD IS A PROPER NOUN AND "THATS" IS A CONTRACTION AND REQUIRES AN APOSTROPHE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeez, no reason to go spaz out on someone simply because their English is different from yours.

Tall_Dave -- what's your idea of a lot of fun? Amusement parks, drunken debauchery, African big game hunting?

Depends what you like and what you consider fun.

Jeju has a lot of natural things to see (a large mountain, many caves, beaches, smaller islands).

Seoroksan (near Sokcho, on the northeast coast) has some nice spots.

I've heard there is also some good white-water rafting somewhere near Seoul (I'm sure someone else can give you details).

Busan is also an option.

You could also pick a small town near a national park and see what happens.

Seoul also has a lot going on and if you're not living there, you could spend a month there and not get bored).

Gyeongju is a nice place if you like temples and very old things.

Everyone has a different definition of what is most fun, so it's hard to tell what you would enjoy.

OK, I'll play. Whats the most funnest place in Korea? Or where is the more funner place? Go ahead and tie me up with your superb English and I'll beat you to death with my inferior form. Keep it up and I'll start using words like "whatnot", here.

Drunken debauchery, photography, and 2 legged game hunting are my favorite vacation activities.

Yeah, if you're going to bash someone's grammar, it's always best to not use inferior English yourself....

Regarding white water rafting: I wouldn't call it "good". It was fun, definitely, but as WWR goes, it is very tame. I went on the one day Adventure Korea trip which has bungee jumping in the afternoon. It is possible that there is better WWR somewhere else. I did have a good day on this trip though.

You could do some mini-trips. Spend some time on one or more of the islands off Incheon if you like beaches but don't want to travel to the south or east coasts. I enjoyed Deokjeokdo (about 1.5 hours in a ferry from Incheon Ferry Terminal, then a bus to a nice beach). Muuido is a bit closer but it's still an expedition to get there (one way includes a bus to the airport, another bus to the ferry terminal, the 5 minute ferry journey, then another bus to the beach! It takes ages.) Once you get there, there are huts on the beach you can rent for the night.

I personally love Busan, but I've never been there in peak holiday time. I suspect it isn't quite as fun when you're sharing the beach with a million other people. Mid-late September is a good time for the beaches in Busan because the weather's still warm, but the Koreans are all back at work so it's nice and quiet. Some alternatives to Haeundae are Gwangali and Songjeong Beaches.

These are a few ideas. I keep meaning to just go to the bus terminal one weekend and choose a destination and go. If you can read Korean, and speak a little, you should be able to get by wherever you go.

why not? the 4 or 5 hour express bus rides are comfty for relaxing, listening to music or sleeping, well air conditioned, and as it's a summer vacation, travel is part of what it's all about

Gyeongpoadae in Gangwon province in June is a fun party beach.
Myeongsashimni near Wando in Jeolla province is a great place to unwind and facilities for camping are great.
Fly to Jeju or ferry from Wando in June and hit a beach if you wanna hang out with expats.
