Hey everyone.

I'm organizing a writers group in Daegu. We would meet once a month on the weekend to read and critique each other's work. I was part of one last year, but a lot of the members moved away, and it hasn't been active for a few months. I'm definitely interested in trying to get it going again.

Anyone who is interested can join this group on facebook:

I'm hoping to schedule a meeting for early March. If you join the group you can also add me. I'm Jeremy Fuller, one of the admins.

Tuff stuff... Lots of B.A. Majors over here... Not necessarily many people with inherent talent... Speaking of Bukowski, "God sure has made many poets, but not much poetry."

Goddamnit, Ying! You're a Beep! Laughing

I've noticed something about writers who don't work as writers/who don't publish/who don't write consistently... They tend not to write very much.

Most "writers" I've known were lazy, unmotivated, and lacked focus in their pursuit of expression. I'm including myself.

In fact, for many "writers," they're no more writers than is an astronomer some kid with binoculars. They're hobby writers. And I'm the worst offender.

But I'm sure there are people out there dedicated to art. I wish you luck, really. I know I sound negative, but unincorporated groups of artists of all media are what keeps avant guard alive.

Good luck. Shocked

Okay, that's cool. Anyway, I'm not expecting to get James Joyce, Charles Dickens, Emily Bronte and freaking Dante in this group. It's more about getting a group together to help everyone in the group improve their writing and to provide a valuable source of feedback. Not everyone in the acting troupes is Al Pacino, and not everyone who plays the open mic nights is Bob Dylan, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun and edifying.

Also, I've found from my experience in similar groups that these "hobby writers" tend to write more regularly when there's a meeting coming up that weekend. Smile

Looks like the group got a few more members since I posted the thread. Very Happy

Anyone else who wants to join, please do so. All are welcome!
