I am looking to teach in SK and am wondering if it is easier to get placement in bigger cities?
I am assuming since they are big cities, that they are more accepting of non-white english speakers. Any incite would be appreciated. |

| I am not black or African. You'd find that the opposite is the result. Big cities are generally white and bros end up out of cities. I not speculating on causation. I'm just observing the result. |

| I'm in Busan. I've been here for 5 years. I haven't worked at a public school, though. So I'm not sure how likely it would be to land a public school job in the cities. |

jameltoe you are pretty good to ignore AndrewChon's words. What an ignorant and racist post.
I am not Black either but I am Asian. I will tell you that you will find work in Seoul. Most recruiters might not be too helpful. They are only interested in quick and easy placements.
There are less schools recruiting for themselves these days, but you will find things in time. Bundang outside of Seoul might be a good start.
Unless you have a lot of cash, I wouldn't come on a tourist visa and look for work. It is not as easy as it once was to do that.
Good luck |

If it seems to you that AndrewChon was looking to start problems, I think you should keep in mind that jameltoe did ask for "incite". |

| I suppose my problem is that I don't know any other way besides recruiters to find schools. Any suggestions on that? |

Being a bit harsh aren't you? The guy was just answering a question.
Wow the US must be messed up if simply talking to a black person gets you labelled racist. Maybe it'd be safer just to not interract with anyone outside your own race at all. |

Don't blame it on the US. I'm American and I'm just as much confused as to how giving your estimate of ethnic populations is racist. I believe this is the same guy who went on a several paragraph rant about how he hates fat people prompted by reading a post that mentioned a dress size, so I'd take the speaker into account before extrapolating any broader social implications.

Nautilus and Street magic. You are blind if you did not read what Andrewchon wrote.
I also did not call AndrewChon a racist. I said post, not him.
AndrewChon refered to black people as BROS. That is pretty ignorant. In the neighborhood I grew up in NY, you didn't do that. His opinion about the distribution of people based on race was not the issue. Though I do think that he is incorrect on that assumption.
Street magic stick to the facts in this thread.
Back to the OP, Just keep sending your resume out. You will find something eventually, it just might take a little longer. |

Oscar: Both my parents were born in Mexico, and they moved to the United States a year before I was born, so I grew up in the United States... my parents were Mexican.
Michael: Wow, that is a great story. That's the American dream right there, right? Um, let me ask you, is there a term besides Mexican' that you prefer? Something less offensive? |

| I'm not upset. If one gets that aggro on something as minute as a throw away lingo, there are bigger issues involved and this was only the trigger. |

"How awful".
Seriously the more I hear about the US and racism the more I see they are in a politically correct madness where everyone is so afraid of eachother that they're safer just not even daring to make eye contact with someone of a different race.
Never been to the US but it appears more racially aware, paranoid and segregated than other western countries e.g western europe. |
