I know many law firms in Korea have full time native English lawyers on staff. I lived in Korea for one year teaching English, and now attend an above-average law school in Canada. I was wondering if anyone has experience working as a native English lawyer in Korea. I am prepared to cold email all trade firms I can in order to find summer work. I am not sure of any other way to go about it, any help or guidance or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

-Thanks

My brother saw an advertisement (while in Korea) on his university Internet job board. He was in country and they hired him right away. I don't know much more than that.

But, my brother said the demand for (cheap) western educated lawyers is imense.

I clerked at a Korean firm last summer. Your best bet is to apply at the big ones who hire summer clerks each year. Also, many schools do summer programs in Korea and will hook you up at a summer position with a Korean firm or company.

Getting a JOB on the other hand (a real full-time year-round job), will be a little more difficult. You need at least a year of experience in your own country and knowing Korean or a second language (Chinese, Japanese) will improve your chances immensely. So will having a technical background so that they can use you for patent work.

Best of luck to you.
