Pardon my ignorance.
I know that SMOE is teaching in public elementary schools in Korea.
So, what is GEPIK?
I am talking with a recruiter, thanks in advance. |

Hi,
GEPIK is Gyeonggi English Program in Korea. They handle schools within Gyeonggi province excluding Seoul. In other words, anywhere outside of Seoul but within Gyeonggi, is GEPIK. This too pertains to public schools. |

From my understanding,
SMOE is teaching in public schools in Seoul.
GEPIK, like Mister said before, is teaching in public schools in the providence that surrounds Seoul.
EPIK is teaching in public schools throughout Korea except in Seoul and one other providence but I can't remember which.
I hope that helps. |

GEPIK used to be EPIK. If you remember this you've been here too long. |

Thanks for the replies, folks.
So, SMOE, GEPIK, & EPIK,
Are all public schools, correct? |

I may be wrong but from what I understand...GEPIK is EPIK...my visa stamp even says EPIK.
I guess the province wanted to handle its own hiring.
Other provinces have started doing their hiring too, though not as headstrong as GEPIK.
Ive seen CEPIK and and JEPIK so far too.
If you see *EPIK or *MOE (UMOE, BMOE, SMOE) then it is a public school. |
