Has anyone been able to find the stuff? I've been making paneer, which doesn't use rennet (many people think it's cottage cheese, but true stuff needs rennet, which can be found in both animal or mushroom derived form), but would love to be able to have one of my favorite breakfasts again.

I'll be picking up rennet in the summer, when I visit home, but for the time being, does anyone know where I can find cottage cheese?

I'm not going to be picky and specify 2% organic or anything (which was my favorite), but any kind. Big or small curd. Whatever there is.

I'm in Incheon, but wouldn't mind going to Seoul to get it.

There's a guy in Pusan who sells rennet and other cheese making supplies. He sells via Gmarket. I've just got into cheese making recently. Oh the taste of ricotta!!!!!!!!!

Can't you substitute vinegar for rennet?

If you substitute vinegar you get paneer, also known as farmer's cheese. I'll have to check out gmarket and get some rennet. I doubt he'll have the mushroom-based stuff, thoughonly the animal-based rennet. I'll deal, veggie or no.

Do you have a recipe for cottage cheese that's any good? I found one but have yet to try it. We've just done Ricotta so far. I'm in Inchon too. How about do a cheese making Saturday soon?

To make cottage cheese, we'd need to get rennet. For the time being, I use farmer's cheese/paneer, but would really love to make the real stuff. If you can get rennet, we could definitely get together to make some yummy cottage cheese!

I buy good cottage cheese from a shop in Dongdaemun Stadium, exit 5. You go out of the exit, immediate right and then turn left at the road. You walk past Woori Bank and in 1 minute on your left is a vertical sign saying "Rata." It's a small Uzebkistani bakery and their brown bread is pretty good too. Everything is made there including cream cheese and cottage cheese (3000W) for a small container. But, do not eat the meat pies!!! They are absolutely horrible.

It's a small shop and cheeses, cream etc. is all in the refrigerator. You can't miss it. The lady there speaks Korean so if you say "치즈 어디소요?" she would show it to you.

Enjoy.

I love you.

I'll have to stop by there when the cheese I brought from home is out. Only 26 more pounds to go! Laughing (no, that's no hyperbole)
