One of the few home comforts which can be found in local grocery stores is cans of Pringles chips. This year I have noticed that the "original" 140 gram canisters have been replaced with 110 gram canisters. So now we get less per can now, but the bigger problem is that they don't taste quite the same.

Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil

Has anyone else noticed this?

Yeah, this happened about two weeks ago. They were going for 1+1 for the same price as one 140g tin, but will inevitably be priced at the same as the 140's.

It's called product shrink or downsizing items, and it's really hard to spot as these go unannounced. Manufacturers claim that their costs are going up, and that consumer's don't want to pay more money for the same amount, so they reduce the size while keeping the price the same. They try to mask this up with labelling items as "NEW!" or "KING SIZE" when in fact they're smaller than the previous version (although the packaging usually stays the same size).

Just for the record, I just saw that cheese-ums flavor at Kim's Club. They're not as cheesy as the kind back home, but they're still good.

The size of them has been reduced...

I don't get chip cuts in the corners of my mouth anymore...but the look like they are child-sized now...

I think they are imported from Malaysia now, but were not before...only guessing though.

Someone said "product shrink", and it reminded me of how the eggs at the supermarket I go to are sold by "tens", rather than by the dozen.

Is it like that in western countries too, these days? It's been so long for me that I often don't know if something is a "Korean" thing or not.

This one was pointed out to me by a student.

Older, bigger one is 27g
Newer, smaller one is 20g, yet still the same price.

That's a 25% reduction for the same price. The children! Will someone think of the children!!? Very Happy

I bought some on the 1+1 deal for 2200W the other day because of this thread. Tasted the same as I remember. One regular, one Sour Cream.

I guess I'd buy some on an impulse, but I'm just not a snacking guy. I like big meals.

I asked one of my teachers about this, and she says it's always been that way. "Forever?" "Well, from what I know."

She's my age, but yeah, they sell eggs in 10 and 15 packs, but not in dozens here.

Nope, still selling by the dozen here in the States.
