ONLY IN AMERICA hahahahaha

Quote:
A beauty pageant for Tiger Woods' mistresses has been organized by shock radio host Howard Stern, with four women signed up so far to compete for a US$100,000 prize, according to Times Online.

The pageant, to be held on March 10, is open only for Woods' mistresses identified by the tabloid press.

As in traditional beauty pageants, contestants will compete in categories such as swimsuit, personality, and talent.

The prize money for the event is being sponsored by AshleyMadison.com, a dating service for people seeking extramarital affairs.

Tiger Woods has an interesting version of the Bill Clinton syndrome and truly epitomizes why for a lot of guys it's just about getting some(thing)
"strange" . aka different.

Willy had Hilary, you could understand his wandering, but consider his "conquests". Shocked
fugly.

Tiger also has what amounts to a lot of fugly skanks. Rachel Uchetel is by far the best of the bunch (and she doesn't hold a candle to Elin)

on the other hand, there's something to be said for a girl who's a sexual freak, more than willing to indugle your own freakiness in the bedroom.
I suspect there's a lot of this in the Tiger story.

I feel sorry for him.

Though I don't know why he wanted to get married, if it in any way had to do with his handlers convincing him it's be better for his endorsement "bidness", then I really feel sorry for him.

Furthermore, I feel sorry that he had to go thru this complete joke of a press conference, apologizing to everyone, when the only apology he needed to make was his wife (and whatever sponsors he sold the "family man" story to)

Lastly, I feel truly sorry he has to go thru this complete joke called "sex addiction", which doesn't exist for most men, and most certainly not for Tiger, whose life wasn't affected negatively in any way by his "addiction" (that's the classic definition by those few medical professionals who even accept the premise)

It's akin to sending the gay preacher to those evangelical homosexual healing clinics.(ever notice the "healers" are clearly gay themselves? Very Happy

You don't think having an angry wife chase him with a golf club counts as a negative effect?

No. In the medical definition of "sex addiction" (and the fact whether it's a real condition is in dispute within the medical community)

..... in that definition, one of the classic "symptoms" is this supposed compulsion interfering with and being deleterious to your everyday life. They specifically tend to cite it interfering with one's job, etc.

Tiger stayed at the top despite all these supposed "distractions". If anything, I'd have to argue his "sex addiction" actually helped his professional life.

here are noteworthy snippets from the definition according to WebMD

http://www.webmd.com/sexual-conditions/guide/sexual-addiction

Quote:
The term sexual addiction is used to describe the behavior of a person who has an unusually intense sex drive or an obsession with sex. Sex and the thought of sex tend to dominate the sex addict's thinking, making it difficult to work or engage in healthy personal relationships.

obviously working wasn't difficult for Tiger, and the only "unhealthy" relationship he had I can think of would be the one with his wife. (unless he made lying promises to some of his paramours)

Quote:
Sex addicts engage in distorted thinking, often rationalizing and justifying their behavior and blaming others for problems. They generally deny they have a problem and make excuses for their actions.

Sexual addiction also is associated with risk-taking. A person with a sex addiction engages in various forms of sexual activity, despite the potential for negative and/or dangerous consequences. In addition to damaging the addict's relationships and interfering with his or her work and social life, a sexual addiction also puts the person at risk for emotional and physical injury.

They only time Tiger had to deny and make excuses was now, when his handlers are trying to rehabilitate his "bidness" image. And of course, his work and social life were top notch by any standard, wouldn't you say? Smile

Quote:
Generally, a person with a sex addiction gains little satisfaction from the sexual activity and forms no emotional bond with his or her sex partners. In addition, the problem of sex addiction often leads to feelings of guilt and shame. A sex addict also feels a lack of control over the behavior, despite negative consequences (financial, health, social, and emotional).

more complete nonsense. Guilt and shame were manufactured for public consumption after it all became public. (though I'm sure he feels somewhat ashamed). Lastly, and this is the best one, Tiger more than anyone was always in complete "control", of everything. Nobody controls his life and access to his life more than Tiger (which is how he got away with it all for so long in the first place)

Now... this last paragraph is very scary. This is what poor Tiger faces. Do I feel sorry for him? Damn straight I do!

Quote:
Treatment of sexual addiction focuses on controlling the addictive behavior and helping the person develop a healthy sexuality. Treatment includes education about healthy sexuality, individual counseling, and marital and/or family therapy. Support groups and 12 step recovery programs for people with sexual addictions (like Sex Addicts Anonymous) also are available. In some cases, medications used to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder may be used to curb the compulsive nature of the sex addiction. These medications include Prozac and Anafranil.

actually I don't feel THAT sorry for him. He's allowing himself to go thru this utter nonsense. He could've (and imo, should've) just said.

Yes, it's true. I'm a hound because by the virtue of being "Tiger" I can afford to be one and simply be able to be one. I AM very sorry to my wife and any friend or family who may feel embarrassed by my actions.
I'll happily grant my wife an equitable divorce while remaining a dutiful father to my children and now that I can cleanse my soul and conscience from the burden of hiding who/what I am, I plan on returning to the game of golf very soon. See you on the course.

Sex obsession is an habitual cycle of behavior which many cannot seem to overcome without the assistance of qualified therapy.

Whether the term addiction fits seems superfluous.

Intensified professional therapy in such instances seems like a rational and necessary move towards understanding oneself and overcoming repetitive destructive patterns.

Should it trump soldiers and civilians dying, earthquakes and corrupt bankers in the daily news? For me, that is the lesson in all of this.

We are a society which has the irrepressible habit of demanding this kind of focus in reporting. Not sure what the addiction is, but if society needs an enema I think you could do well to stick the tube right in the mainstream media.

I've been listening to some sports talk radio in my hometown on podcasts.

The guys who cover the NBA say that IF Tiger has an "obsession" or an "addiction", then it's shared by almost every single NBA player on the league roster and basically most professional athletes period.
you can also add rock stars and famous musicians to this mix.

the media's focus and obsession with this, and other nonsense like Slick Willy's fellation and games with cigars is indeed a very very pathetic verdict on our society.

but then again - most American homes, especially famales watch TV shows like "Hanging with the Kardashians" Shocked

It almost makes one thinnk those stupid Korean variety shows where they sit around and laugh and clap, etc are actually a much much worthier "art form". Shocked
