I have a friend who is getting married in July, and I want to go back for the wedding. I sincerely doubt that my school is going to give me any time off for it, even though I can give them plenty of heads up time. My question is this, if I cancel my E-2 visa and contract, will I be ineligible for another one? If I go home this time, will I be unable to return as a teacher? |

You can get another visa. However, if your new school calls your old school and they tell them you broke your contract it might make getting the job a little more difficult. But as far as the visa goes, you are still eligible for another one. |

Forgive me if this comes off sounding rude, but you are not in jail.
Just tell the boss that you plan on going home for a wedding and you do
not expect to get paid, but you have to go. Give them the dates. Just be polite about it. |

The answer to you question, is that YES you can come back to Korea and teach. BUT you will almost definitely have to wait until the 12 months of your E2 visa expire. Unless your current employer gives you a letter of release (which they won't likely do if you pull a midnight run). So, if you are in month 2 of your current visa, then you'll have to wait 10 months until you can get another E2 visa. If you're in month 10, then you will lose your severance pay.
After your original 12 months have passed, then you are free to apply for a new E2 visa with another school. Obviously you shouldn't tell the new school that you broke your last contract or that you ran off without notifying the school. You can't use the same recruiter either. |

If you leave and plan to return you are ok. Even if your Employer does not give you a letter of release. My 1st employer I was only here for 75 days when they canned me. I went home and came back 45 days later. You will get a whole new visa number.
It is better to get a letter or release, as you keep your same visa. I am not sure, but I been told if you keep an E-2 visa for five years you can get a F-5 or an F-2 depending on how you do it.
If you get a whole new visa number I think it would start over. |

Getting a F-series visa without marrying is more complex then just simply having an E-2 visa for five years
According to the new regulations which were supposed to take place this Feb.
You must be able to pass a language test
You must maintain an address here for five consecutive years.
And you must have assets or skills that are deemed sufficient to support yourself. |
