I had this last week. It's about 6,500 (maybe 6,950, can't remember) for two people. They give you one lousy bowl between the two of you, but I usually take my own plate or grab another bowl from an empty table. It's a good deal as you can get both appetizers and dessert (fruit, yogurt with toppings) before and after your main meal.

One bowl, and you gotta keep reusing the same one.

Haha.. yeah, reuse that salad dressing lined bowl for fresh fruits, etc. That's why I always grab a new plate or bowl off another table while the gf watches in awe and disbelief while proclaiming, "You can't do that!" That's right - a real rebel in my time. Wink

Is it really that bad? I'd pay that for a real salad bar, with like.. salad. But only if I could get a clean plate every time.

I went t Mr. Pizza with my parents and a Korean friend when they visited two years ago, because my mother was ill and wanted to just have salad.

We ordered 4 salads with our other food. They refused to provide more than one very small bowl.

We were informed that it is a strictly enforced company policy which they adhere to without exception.

It was pretty surreal. You'll sell me the salad, but I can't have a bowl to put it in.

My Korean friend did not see it as strange at all.

I haven't gone back to a Mr. Pizza since.

A company which thinks like this is wrong in many many ways, guaranteed.

Did you stay, eat, and pay for the meal, or did you leave as soon as you realized that you were only getting one salad when you were paying for four?

I would have gladly left, but we shrugged it off as VERY unusual and shared the one small salad bowl amongst the 4 of us.

Can you just pay for one? "Only I want salad."

Yes, if only one person at the table orders salad, you get the same small bowl for it.

When ordering, I hadn't considered that it was even possible that if 4 ordered the salad bar there would be only one small bowl; so when we asked for our other bowls and were refused, it was a little hard to quite get "why".
It was a surprise. If it were a big bowl perhaps it would not seem so strange.

For someone dining alone, or several people that wish to share a very small salad bar bowl it is not a problem, and you do get to keep going back and filling it up.

The idea is to offer a salad bar, but make it as difficult as possible for customers to take very much food back to the table and enjoy it. An economy of sorts as my Korean friend perceived it. The only other way to get individual salads would be to sit at different tables, which I would be tempted to do. Come in as a group and then sit at four different tables, at least until the pizza comes, and then split up again for dessert.

It is certainly one possible restaurant model and philosophy.
Perhaps there is some benefit to the patron which I have overlooked.

Do they bother with a sneeze guard? After all, if you don't get a new bowl for return trips...

LGG, that's ridiculous. If you paid for four, then you should get four. Why adhere to these absurd "rules"?

Are you going to wipe down and sop up all the leftover crud and juices with a napkin every time you want to go back up for more, as my gf did (hehe.. god bless her non-confrontational soul)? That's the job of the restaurant.. they're there to serve you dude.
