A Jewish couple that I'm good friends with just had their first baby and I'm attending the Bris on Wednesday. I've never been to one before and I have no idea if I should bring a present, or food, or anything else. I don't want to bother my friends by asking them as I'm sure they've got enough on their plates at the moment! (I'll definitely get them a present at some point, I'm just not sure if a Bris is the appropriate place to give it).

Any advice from any Jewish people out there, or anyone else who is familiar with Jewish customs?

Thanks in advance Smile

You are going to see the baby. You can either bring the baby a present, or you can buy a bottle of wine.

Thanks! Maybe I'll do both. The parents would certainly enjoy the wine Smile

big bottle of Vicadin... or better yet, something stronger.

not for you.. for the baby.

or if you the bring the wine, have the baby down it before the "cut".
it's the humane thing to do.

having undergone the procedure, I know of what I speak. Shocked

Bubka? (Isn't that what Jerry and Elaine took to one?) < j/k

A religious memento or some keepsake with the child's name embroidered or embossed would be nice if you can find one. A bris is also a naming ceremony.

I was old enough to be out of commission for a week. Wasn't done for religious reasons.

this was also a trick the Jews used in the Bible to slaughter at least one enemy tribe. (ya know.. cuz "God" wanted them to)

That would be a lovely idea, only I have no idea what they're naming him! D'oh!
