| Am I the only person who wears my hat backwards in Korea? You'd think I was walking around in my underwear the way Koreans stare at me when I wear my hat backwards. |

As strange as it may sound, there's this place called Southern California where people of all colors, sizes, and ages wear hats backwards quite often. In fact, everywhere I've been in the US there have been lots of people wearing hats backwards, and not just rappers and teenagers. I wear it like that because it's comfortable, even though that might be hard to believe for some.

Seriously, though, it's still a common sight in the States. Generally, though, they're mid-twenties folks who were teenagers in the '90s. I see nothing wrong with it. It's a silly fashion thing.
I don't own a baseball cap, but I do wear a stocking hat and I always wear the Carhart logo to the back. I think I looked pretty silly with a Carhart patch right in the middle of my forehead like some kind of advertising cyclops. It's a great hat, though, very warm and I've had it since I was a lad.  |

Go to Songtan, near Osan airbase. You'll fit right in. |

It's a baseball hat. I thought that was implied. No one calls any hat "a cap" in the US. |

| How odd. A completely useless piece of accoutrement and people from the country that invented it seem to have forgotten how to wear it (I mean come on, there are only two ways to wear it; forwards and backwards, and one of them is wrong) and now I find out that some of them have even forgotten what it is. It's a cap, people! |

Where I am from in the states, all "caps" are hats but not all hats are caps. No one says "caps." However, it sounds like something people from the East might say.
What say you New Yorkers? |

OP: they stare because the way you wear your cap is associated with rappers and teenagers or skaters...and in many ways it is what it looks like.....
Does the rest of your accountrement fit this look? Baggy jeans that hang and show your boxers? Oversized shirt?
Or the other variation: jean, sneakers an open shirt untucked and a t-shirt?
Here is hoping you do not teach with the cap on backwards as well... |

I can't speak for New York, but where I'm at here in the East it's pretty similar to what you described, except we do say cap. Usually, as a casual remark, it's a hat. However, the word cap doesn't exactly cause a lot of confusion. Older folks and New England use cap a lot more. And me, i guess. |
