Heart isn't from Canada. They're from the Seattle area.

I missed this before. The band was formed (as Heart) in and began in Canada following some bizarre draft dodging affair. The members themselves are from Washington, yes. In their early days they identified as being "from Canada" as a band. I couldn't tell you if this was political or referring to their Canadian record label.

Here is the oldest recording I've seen of them (1976, pre-Carter). If you're a fan of Heart's old stuff, this series is amazing. It's above and beyond my favorite early recording. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uvr3dmptvg&feature=related

Sales don't mean anything. If sales = credibility or integrity then that must mean Elton John's Candle in the Wind is the most credible and greatest song ever because it has sold the most records ever.

Being able to sing is different from making good (and non-embarrassing) music. Something with which you could never accuse Dion of doing.

I agree. I'm Canadian and I don't know who half of the people on that list are.

The mother from Home Alone is famous enough to try a stand up routine at the closing ceremonies? That's embarrassing. I knew I should have turned off the tv when William Shatner walked on stage.

elton john is a great singer and no one can take that away from him..
you might not like him doesnt mean he is not great..

That also goes for celine. You might not like her music. but MILLIONS of people around the world do.. doesn't mean she can't make good music just becuase you are not into her..

could you list some singers who you rank as better than her??
becuase you are acting like Celine Dion can't even carry a tune and is a terrible singer. so I'd really like to know who you are comparring her with.

I love Elton John, but Candle in the Wind is dreadful.

Again, you are confusing popularity with good. That's a completely naive way to judge art of any kind (otherwise The Da Vinci Code is the greatest novel ever, Candle in the Wind is the greatest song ever, Avatar is the greatest film ever, etc., etc., etc.) In short, populism means nothing and you should never judge something by whether other people like it. Hell, millions like American Idol. Does that make it right?

You are confusing being able to sing with being able to create good music which are two totally different things. For example, I can play guitar and piano very well, but I am a terrible songwriter. Just like Celine Dion has a cracking voice. Has she ever made anything actually worth listening to ever? No.
