10 Magazine has a poll up where visitors can vote for their favorite Korea blog.

http://10magazine.asia/2903/april-readers-10/

There are a lot of blogs on this list b/c of write-ins. If the one you like isn't on the list you can click on "other" and write it in. If that blog gets three write-ins it will be added to the list and those three write-ins will be counted as votes.

Ditto on the Idiot.........

There has been allot of comments on their website and on their Facebook page that are both pretty humorous.

The fine people at 10 Magazine are "surprised" that a negative blog is in the lead (aka An Idiot's Tale). They are "sure" that voting in the next week or two will "correct" this error. They are also "sure" that the only reason An Idiots Tale is in the lead is that ASmith pimped his users to vote.

What a joke of a poll. I'll make odds right now that ASmith does not win as it is obvious that the magazine has pre-disposed ideas on who should, or more accurately "should not" win.

I voted for Asmith. I'm not a big fan of his. He is funny. I figured I'd help him defeat the so-called "Blian Golden Balls." I have no idea who that is, but the fact that I will help someone I don't care for defeat someone I don't know just about describes how much I care about blogs being ranked.

He does make a compelling argument (censorship added by me):

Quote:

My dearest friends, we can win on so many levels.

If An Idiot's Tale wins, you'll get more users. I'll pimp your ---- till the cows come home.

If An Idiot's Tale wins, the serious bloggers will go on strike. And wouldn't that be fun to watch?

If An Idiot's Tale wins, we can collectively ---- www.eslcafe.com right in the ---.

If An Idiot's Tale wins, the community gets a non-profit interactive site run by an actual English teacher who--in the not to distant future--will be buried on Mongol Candy Mountain.

Sounds like fun.

Well, I'm the guy he talks about all the time, and I don't really care about "winning" a poll of favorite blogs, but I certainly hope I don't lose to him.

My blog is pretty good, I think: http://briandeutsch.blogspot.com A few other people think so, too.

While I'm no fan of blogs or bloggers in general, I have to say yours tends to contain some pertinent and interesting information.

Be you Blian Golden Balls, Howdy!

But you have to admit, the irony of Asmith winning the blog competition... It's poetic justice for trying to control an aspect of the internet.

And Smee, I've read your blog. You're on top of things. You have good information...

But assholes enjoy the company of other assholes. Consider this less vote as a moral justification in the intellectual and commercial superiority of your blog. As for me, I'm ignorant scum and I'm okay with that. Shocked

As a fellow idiot I am voting for Asmith. He is more entertaining than the other blogs and doesn't take himself too seriously.

If someone in Jeollnamdo made a blog, like once a week... now this could be a bit spendy and time consuming... that was just like "o hai this weekend me and the boys went down to this hof to drink beer and eat chicken [pic]. The chicken was world class, southern fried [pic]. We had the mixed wings, which were 1/3 each of nomnom, spicy, and regular [pic]. We also had some 3gyetang [pic]. The place is located in 서똥산 next to the fire station and down a block."

"This week we went to 국수사 and saw the lanterns [pic]. They have one of the artifacts in Korea [pic]. We ate firegogi at this templetown restaurant [pic]. The restaurant is located to the right of the entrance. From 방구 Terminal, take the 4 bus."

That might make me want to see a place.

I really liked reading your blog, and I get the kherald at work, so I've read your stuff you wrote for Matt. Personally, though, I like wallowing in the filth more than any white man in history, so BiJ just didn't "pop" enough for me to be a regular reader.

I have, however, recommended it to some of my more educated and culturally sensitive comrades, who enjoy it very much.

I voted for Gusts of Popular Feeling from home. Matt does some great research and deserves some recognition for his many many hours of hard labour.

Then I voted for An Idiot's Tale from work, since while I understand while some hold him in disdain, I'm in pretty much the same boat as that guy and he says it as it is. Highly entertaining, considering he writes about nothing. You want a true slice of life view of living while married in Korea, that's the snitz.

In the other forum I had questioned Stephen Revere's business savvy in starting a print magazine. But I must admit that this blog contest was a good idea. I had actually not heard of 10 magazine until I heard of this contest.

Having the bloggers of Korea advertise for you gets the word around to the expats right quick.
-------------
I also think the Idiot is pretty funny and if the vote is for funniest blog he gets mine.

Brian in J is very good in his own way. When he first started writing in the Herald a few years back his pieces were not so good. But he has grown a great deal as a writer and has good, natural, journalistic talents. Also, he would get my vote for gutsiest blogger. Certainly he put his neck on the line many times and stood behind the words he wrote with his real name. A class act.

The Marmot's hole is steady, but seems to lack a central theme. A few other blogs are sometimes good. The Metropolitician has had a few good posts but lately, the last year or so, has been a bit drab. Roboseyo also has some good stuff on occasion.

And the VLOG winner is Ryan.

I actually recently checked out eatyourkimchi.com. It's a fabulous blog which is really becoming a monster here in Korea. Well done to these guys. They have achieved so much. Smile
