Does anybody know if you need to show a "return ticket" or an "onward ticket" when doing a visa run on tourist visa to Japan? There has been few real answers on this. Can you buy a return ticket to Japan or any other countries? Has anybody ran into problems making a visa run on a tourist visa before? Many say....Yes and No.

Real answers please Shocked

Thanks

If you leave Korea and go to Japan you need an exit from Japan before they let you enter Japan.

IF your ticket is korea-japan-korea then Korea will want to see an exit ticket before you return. It is the airline check-in counter who will check and may refuse boarding.

If you have a flight, Korea-Japan-Korea-Japan then:

Japan will let you enter on the first flight (you have an exit ticket back to Korea).
Korea will let you return since you have an exit ticket (going back to Japan).

After you get back here, refund your last leg (korea-japan) and everyone is happy.

If you are going to enter without a real visa (as on an entry stamp) then you are required to have onward passage and the airline are the ones who give you the grief.

I've entered Korea on a tourist visa and a one way ticket. I had no problems.

How the hell would they know you don't have a return ticket? Usually it is the airlines that get all anal on that, but I had no issues.

In other words you have to buy two return tickets via Korea-Japan. Still don't understand the politics behind it. Why would anybody give me some grief. I'm a tourist and want to visit Japan and simply go back to Korea which I have a 6 month stamp on it. So each time a tourist wants to visit a country, and has to buy a (two return ticket) anytime they just want to visit a country. And then they have to get a refund of the last leg...it doesn't make sense. Shocked

Another Question;

What is a real visa "other than a tourist visa" one that is an E2 visa?

Well, thanks for the reply "ttompatz" it's getting clearer now Rolling Eyes

A real visa is one you apply for and get from a consulate or embassy outside of the county you wish to visit. It may include: tourist visa, work visa, family visa, etc. It usually is a full page sticker placed into your passport.

A visa waiver stamp is what you get when you travel without a visa.
It may allow you entry for a limited amount of time into a country (typically 14-90 days) and has more restrictions because you were not "pre approved" before your arrival.
