I will be attending my Korean co-worker's wedding (co-worker is a male), and was wondering what I need to wear (I'm a male)?
Is it same standard suit and tie as in America?

Wear the same kind of suit you would wear if you were doing an Open Lesson. If you have no dress socks sports socks are OK. " A message to you Rudy"
Bring an Envelope with 30 000 won in it. Give it to the person at the front desk. Watch the ceremony it shouldn't take longer than 20 minutes. Go the the Buffet enjoy yourself and get drunk. |

| I would consider wearing some sort of muzzle, to conceal your shrieks of uncontrollable laughter at the plethora of ridiculousness that you will witness. A Korean Wedding Hall wedding is truly one of the most hilariously entertaining events you will attend in your life. If it is a church wedding then it will more than likely be more "normal", but wedding hall weddings are awesome. |

I second the wedding hall remarks. They almost look like set rehearsals for a TV show or something. Wedding hall employees constantly following the bride and groom around, constantly adjusting their clothes throughout the ceremony, physically moving them from place to place.
Of course, it's obviously still a very happy moment for the couple and family and friends so I feel kind of bad for thinking this way.
The buffet at the lastest one I went to was absolutely amazing. It was at Gimpo airport. Imagine getting married in a wedding hall at an airport with 4 other weddings going on around you. Then they try to move you out as fast as possible and shuffle you off to he buffet where you share the space with perhaps another wedded couple.
If only I could find a way to duplicate the meal cards they hand out to guests. I'd be fine dining EVERY NIGHT. It'd be impossible to get caught amongst the 1000 or so guests.

Wear a suit. The shinier the better, of course. I went in a dress shirt and tie with my sleeves rolled up and stuck out like a sore thumb. |

| If it's a wedding hall wedding, you can probably wear anything you want. People will be too busy chit chatting during the service to notice. You don't even need to turn off your cell phone; usually, the loud music playing over the speakers will drown out any ringing. |

FWIW, I am giving 100k since he's a good friend of mine in the 5 months I've worked here, helping me out with things like paying my bills, setting up a bank account, etc. I almost feel like 100k is being too cheap.
I will wear a suit, but just wanted to make sure I wasn't being overdressed. The wedding will be at a wedding hall and I am expecting to see a line of people waiting for the previous wedding to end so that they can begin theirs. |

haha true...i wore jeans and a polo shirt.
We got there late, ate eat tons of food first, then watched the closing part of the ceremony, and then my coteacher took me back home.Quickest wedding I've ever been to. |

| You can't give 100K because you have to give them in odd denominations. So you should give 50, 70, 90, 110, etc at least that is what I heard. |

or when the bridge and groom are saying their vows etc the bridesmaids are still making sure the bride`s dress is perfect and the photographer(s) are literally in their faces taking a gazillion pictures with flash at the same time....kinda ruins the moment but that`s the way they do it over here. |
