|
|
I understand that when I apply for my lump sum refund that I need to bring my passport, immigration card,E-ticket ,voided check and copy of my contract. But, I have been given two different answers by reps from the pension office. One claims, before my funds are sent to my account in America that the school needs to send confirmation of my termination of my contract, when I leave. The other rep claims that they (pension office) will call the school. I located the following information off the expats website, but could not locate anything on the NPS website.
[
Your employer will also have to report the termination of the contract to the National Pension Service (NPS) of Korea upon your departure from the country. The NPS will deposit the refund in your bank account after it confirms your departure. [/b]
Does anyone know if they experienced the NPS contacting the school or the school contacting them (school)? I would hate to have to worry about the school sendint the information. Thanks for any advice

Just give them a copy of your contract which will have the ending date. |

So you are saying that they(pension office) need not call the school when I leave or the school need not send a written confirmation when I leave? The copy of the contract will cover the requirement?

It's up to NPS if they want to confirm with your school. And as far as written confirmation from your school, it is not necessary. Your contract should cover it. |

I apologize, but is this from your own experience? What about the statement that I found on expats.com, that claims the school has to notify the pension office after I leave? I am just trying to find out what the experiences of different people were. Thanks |

This doesn't make sense. If you work 4 or 7 months and leave, you can't get pension money? Why should it matter if they see the contract or not?
Do you have to present contracts from previous schools and previous years you worked in? |

I may have not explained my self fully, but I would have finished my contract. I was given two different answers by two Pension reps. The bolded statement came from the expats website. I wanted to know from other peoples experiences if they had 1. The pension office call their school after leaving to confirm the end of the contract. 2. The school had to contact the pension after the teacher left the country. 3. When the teacher went to the pension office, the contract was goood enough to view? Thanks |

So, nobody has any idea if the pension office looks at my contract that it will fulfill the requirement that I have been questioning? I have been given three different answers! |

Korea likes to make and break promises when it suits them. If you don't hound them about your own circumstances, they are likely to not even worry about it.
I am going to go in Monday if I can find the place without any contracts, just my ARC card and bank info. I'll see if that is enough. Showing contracts doesn't make sense because you could have switched schools and worked half a year. They have your ARC card info, so that should be all that they need. If they want to confirm you leaving, that's on them to do. It can't really be something you need to prove. It's not a legal case.
I'll bring my laptop which has my flight info, but I won't try to show them it. I will see how few things I need to get this working. Make them do the leg work and then they will realize how stupid all this is. They can call the school to confirm. |

Thanks! I agree with you in that, the school should not have to contact them(pension office) after I have left, so the pension office can process my refund. I feel if the pension office wants the information they should contact the school or accept the copy of my contract that I bring with me to claim my pension. If the pension office requires each school to contact them everytime a teacher leaves (knowing how each schools business office is slow) the teacher would be waiting forever to get their money.
P.S The pension office is claiming that after the teacher has left the country that the school would need to contact them so the pension office can process the claim. |

Like every other governemnt office in Korea there is a lot of face saving going on at work. Instead of saying they are not sure and will look up the answer they will make up whatever rule they seem feels right. |
