I did 2+ years of teaching, R&D, and management at a hagwon. REALLY enjoyed the experience...moved back to the States in September to deal with some family stuff, but am very eager to return to Korea this spring/summer (still working on convincing my wife ).
I know hagwon gets a pretty bad rap on this board, and for good reasons. My situation was great (I'm looking at possibly going back), but I also want to move forward in my career.
Assuming for a moment that I don't work at my old school, does anyone have a recommendation for:
1) A very good hagwon / hagwon chain, with high standards and solid pay?
2) A university or unigwon situation that would be available to a B.A.?
3) Should I consider PS? I really don't want to wait until September, and I have mixed feeling about GEPIK/SMOE/etc., but I'm not entirely ruling it out
4) Something more administrative--drawing from my R&D background? If so, where should I look?
5) And what's the general consensus these days...for someone who already knows the lay of the land but who would be applying from the States, would it be better to go through a recruiter (I did this the first time around) or simply monitor the job ads here and elsewhere for the right opportunity?
Thanks for your insight! |
