Has anyone here ever taken e in Korea?

What part of "idiot" do you not understand?

I understand that cops can take a hair strand test on demand. Why don't we all just line up and discuss our drug use online?

I, for one, don't take illicit drugs while traveling or teaching abroad. It is the stupidest thing to do.

OK... I see your points.

With all due respect, I think you missed some points:

It seems that the drug scene in Korea has been driven completely underground by the authorities. That doesnt mean there isnt one.

I don't think anyone is saying drugs don't exist here. I think what people are trying to tell you that this is not the place to talk about them.

I dont see that discussing drugs on an online forum is "stupid" at all. As long as no illegal plans are discussed it is perfectly legal to talk about it. Last time I heard you cant be prosecuted in Korea for asking where not to go if you want to avoid drugs.

No one is talking about the legality of discussing where not to buy drugs online. The point is that if you do so, you are basically making a public announcement that you are into drugs and looking to buy some. That in and of itself may not be illegal, but who knows who is monitoring this forum?! What if the police have a special officer responsible for monitoring expat internet forums looking for illegal activity? How much detective work do you think it would take them to figure out who you are and send an undercover officer to sell you something? Or better yet, just wait a couple weeks and then drag you down to the station and give you a drug test?

The fact is that the drug lords are more powerful than the police.

First you tell us you don't even know where to find E in Korea, now you're spewing forth with all these facts about how powerful the drug lords are like you're some sort of authority on the topic. Gimme a break...

Tell ya what, Shak, if you ever got hauled into the police station for drug offenses, tell the cops what a buncha pipsqueaks they are in comparison to the big tough drug lords. I'm sure that'll really help your cause.

Now, if someone says "hey, I wanna go commit some muggings, what's a good place with bad lighting", and I tell him Ron Jeremy Avenue, then yeah, that's a little more cut-and-dry.

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I heard that if the Korean police do a strand test on your hair, and they find traces of drugs, it doesn't matter if the drug use occurred in Korea or not. Can anyone verify or disprove this?

It is 100% true.
E usually resides in hair samples for about 6 weeks.
Dope is up to 4 months.

I thought we had just been talking about how strict drug law in Korea was.

Ah, but the question then becomes whether or not posts talking about places where drugs are sold in and of themselves violate the law. If I say "A lot of muggings happen over on Ron Jermey Avenue because there's not enough lighting", am I abetting crime by advising would-be muggers that that's a good place to rob people? Or am I just stating a fact?

Now, if someone says "hey, I wanna go commit some muggings, what's a good place with bad lighting", and I tell him Ron Jeremy Avenue, then yeah, that's a little more cut-and-dry. I know that the guy wants to mug people before I answer the question. But the OP did not come on here and say "hey, I wanna buy drugs", he EXPLICITLY said he wanted to avoid drugs when he came to Korea. You can believe what you want about his actual intentions, but the fact remains that his post did not openly ask us to help him buy drugs.

I do find it odd that the mods seem to have gone completely AWOL and are leaving it to civilians like me to defend their policies.

It might not take much for a Korean prosecutor to make a decent arguement about the OP's intentions. After all, when I think about the wording of statutes in the UK, I imagine that his posts on Dave's could constitute decent evidence if he were later found in the aforementioned places buying drugs.
