if you want a documentary that's less earnest, Man on Wire is fantastic |

The Old Negro Space Program. A film not by Ken Burns will make me laugh for a long while. |

Amazing film. One of the only films I've ever seen on Rotten Tomatoes with a 100% rating...and that's with 141 reviews. |

Times that by 7. Actually a triumph of the human spirit. It's so good only cliches can effectively describe it.
It's kind of mental that he isn't more famous. |

Century of Self is good until the last episode when it draws completely erroneous conclusions, or fails to play to my prejudices. I forget which one.
Fat Head is a good counter point to Super Size Me
The Free To Choose series by Milton Friedman is a must watch. It blows lefty liberal minds. Probably infuriates them as well. |

The 7-Up series is a great examination of class and race but now mostly just the human condition.
King of Kong. I don't know how this can be so inspirational and awesome given the simplicity of the topic, but it is epic.
Dig. Indie rock musicians acting like babies? Sure, why not? |

I second the "Century of Self" and "Fog of War".
Michael Wood "Story of India", "Legacy"
David Starkey "Monarchy"
Terry Jones "Medieval Lives", "Flying Penguins"
If you like war stuffs: "Lost Evidence"
Some of the "Modern Marvels" are good. |

Oh yea, Planet Earth is a master piece. Make sure you get the Attenborough version, not the Sigourney Weaver version. There are so many wtf? Why isn't that animal a household hero moments. |

Someone on here posted a link to a documentary on the rise of Islam in the UK, and their increasing political influence. I found that interesting because I've been away from the UK for over 4 years. |
