Hi There,
3DR depending which country and state/province/region you live in it would vary widely. Where have you been living and where have you spent the most time recently? Where are you from? Then find out the process for the police background check there.
In many cases the record check must be apostilled for acceptance in Korea. Unless you have somebody to take it to be verified and then sent to you you may need to do this yourself.
In my case the lady at the Apostille office wanted to know the person/ people involved personally in order that the signature be trusted. The CBC may need to be countersigned although for police checks it is normally fine. In my town the police could send the document on to another address.
I actually could have applied from Korea with a fingerprint form and a money order and had the police to send it on to the apostille lady etc but I would have needed to ring and see that the apostille lady recieved it, then use my credit card for any required sending back and forth of the documents, for the apostille itself and then the securist postage back to Korea which would have cost me. Having no payment method might complicate things. At that time the office for apostilles accepted visa card however from memory the police station didn't, they wanted a money order. I required a federal check, the officer ensured my fingerprints were done the correct way. Otherwise it may not have been accepted.
I would do it by post if you can but I hope you have plenty of time. if they require fingerprints they have to be perfect. I hope the police are flexible with their payment options.
CBC's are unfortunately valid for only 6 months or so.. |

I know you can get a background check done online, I've had to do it before. Here is a link to the Michigan page. Should have your results back within 24 hours. As for fingerprints, why would you need new ones?
Good Luck,

You have a question regarding background checks or CRC, if you are a United States citizen this is what you can do.
Option 1: Nationwide Background check for the United States:
A. You need to go to the local police station/fingerprint station/live scan facility in the country you are in and get fingerprinted on a FD-258 card or paper.
B. Sorry to say, but you're out of luck on time. Nationwide background check take a very long time, "allow approximately 13 weeks for processing." There's a way that you can get it earlier, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Contact Apostille Pros @ www.apostillepros.com.
Option 2: State Background Check: If you are short on time, if you are in the United States, you can do a live scan background check. That's only a STATE background check though. Again, you can contact Apostille Pros or go to your local live scan. They have the machine to run the background check.
Option 3: Run a broad background check. All it requires is your social security, name etc. This is without fingerprinting. Depending on the requesting agencies, some might accept this type of background check, some might not. Again Apostille Pros, can do this.
Option 4: Background check obtain through the city where you'd lived. Again Apostille Pros provide this service.
Last if you need an apostille on your background check or crc, well Apostille Pros again. These guys are great. They specialize in this. They helped me and my friend. I highly recommmend them. Just give them a call, they will provide you with information and you can go from there.

Thirteen weeks is a long time to have a background check done. I was unaware that it takes so long. I really thought that it could be done more quickly than that. |
