Hey everyone,
I have a friend who wants me to give him English lessons (for free of course). I really want to do this so I wanted to get some insight on how I could structure a lesson to be most effective for him.
He's 21, a university student but definitely a beginner. Does anyone have any tips for material and an idea of the general layout for a lesson?
I teach elementary school so I have no experience with how one goes about teaching adults. |

You could check out the book, Headstart, published by OUP. It's more for use with a group, but there aren't many textbooks out there for 1-on-1 adult beginner classes.
A good idea might be to just try to have a conversation with him. Keep it simple and only correct his major errors (the ones that really make his statements confusing). You could also prepare him some role place activities. In this case you can use the phrases from any phrasebook to help you create the roles that he might find himself in. |
