Masan is Fun.

I should be there in a month or two.

Still working out job details.

It's not Seoul but it has it's own character.

Changwon is more modern.

The bus system is pretty good.

I just moved to Masan recently and I really like it. The city backs onto hills which have a nice view of the sea. There is everything you need in the centre and Changwon is a short bus ride away. From what I have seen so far Changwon is a new, well-designed city with lots of parks and open spaces. If you want to meet up when you get here then pm me.

Masan is alright. It has been my experience the foreign community is a little weird. Something in the water over there. Changwon is close by though and that is cool.

Masan is good location-wise. Its really close to Jinhae, the planned city of Changwon, and 40-60 min away from Busan. Its also one of the warmest places in the country. For the culture and other stuff I am really not the one to ask, but I heard it helps to learn Korean and about Korean culture since the city is more traditional than provinces more northern. Best of luck.

Masan's fairly dull, although you could do worse I suppose. It really depends what your interests are. A lively nightlife with the opportunity to meet new people won't be found here. But it has some things going for it, as mentioned, like the weather. It is still quite conservative I would say. Definitely brush up on or learn at least basic expressions in Korean for communicating.

Masan is pretty laid back. not much to do, but with the bus station close by, you can pretty much get to anywhere. and Changwon is close by, so a good nightlife is at hand.

ahhhh.... Im getting all nostalgic now. when my roomate threatened my life, and fake punched me in the school. ahh... good times... Razz

Does anyone who is or was in Masan know anything about Samgye Middle School and where it is located?

Don't know anything about the school but the samgye area is in a suburb of Masan called Naeseo. (Correct the spelling if you will) There's not much out there but I really enjoyed my time there thanks to the foriegn community.

in Masan and Changwon, all roads for foreigners lead to Obriens at some point....

just tell a cab driver "Changwon, Hotel International." It's on the third floor I believe...
