Has anyone made a purchase on Korean Airs website for a ticket using their KB save plustar card with the maestro symbol? From what I was told by the Korean Air agent it sounds like it is more trouble than it is worth. He claims that I need to have the bank issue me a credit card password(which will be entered in the payment section of the website ) and the bank needs to have my account autorized to make large purchases( called this a bank certificate authorization) and I need a password for this also. I am wondering if I am better off having my school make the purchase rather than me making it. Any feedback would help! Thanks Confused

Korea has this verification system for just about every card for online purchases. I have a samsung visa card, nonghyub maestro card, nonghyub mastercard and all three cards needs a password, my arc number and my pin number everytime i make an online purchase, unless it's less than 20,000won.

Yes, at first it's a freaking pain in the butt to have everything register and verified by your bank, but after that its just a matter of whipping out your arc card and punching in the number.

It sux but that's how it is.

Thanks! Does anyone have a KB account with the type of card that I mentioned? I want to make sure when I speak to the KB agent that I am asking for the correct information to be entered and given on to me on my end. Has anyone gone through this process for KB Bank? Thanks!

It's cheaper to buy a ticket from a travel agent. Go to the international terminal at Gimpo airport. On the second floor in a small dollar type store there is a Kiosk that has travel agents. There tickets are cheaper than online tickets.

I think I have the same thing, it's a green colored card?

A previous co-teacher helped set something up and installed something on my USB stick (which I have deleted) and this allowed me to make online purchases. You could go that route, and most likely you will be entering your ARC card number.

I would suggest going with a travel agent first. See what prices they give you. Maybe it will be more than what you can find online, but if it is not that much you will save a lot of headache. I just gave them my KB card to purchase a ticket and then got it back 2 minutes later. Done deal. No internet/foreigner hassle involved.

Thanks! I will see if I already have the online authorization setup on my card. I hope if it is not set, then I can do it over the phone rather than in person, especially with the limited amount of time I have. I have found the KAL seem to offer better deals online. I live out in the country and for me to head into Ginpo it would cosr me about 28,000 roundtrip for a bus. Thanks everyone!

Or you could call the airline direct and just enter your credit card # over the phone and qualify for the discount. I don't trust buying it online, especially here. Too many things can go wrong. At least when you call, someone is held accountable for error on the company's end

That sounds like a good idea. Do they email my receipt and E-ticket to me?
Thanks
