Has anyone done this successfully? I tried but because of the address format (US format) it would not allow me to enter my credit card details. Any info greatly appreciated. |

What store are you trying to purchase from? Are you on the US store and attempting to use a credit card issued by a US bank? If so, I cannot imagine there being a problem.
If you're on the Korean/Asian store and trying to use a US card, your best bet is prepaid PSN cards. |

Ah, that's why you are having problems. My understanding is Sony is very strict on such things.
I'm not sure of your visa status in Korea, but if you are on an E-2 and have an ARC card, you may not be able to create a Korean PSN account (I coouldn't/cannot). Of course, you could always have a Korean friend make one for you, or just buy PSN cards. |

Speaking of friends, I've never bothered to check, but is there some way to purchase games as gifts like on Steam? Maybe if you've got friends with PS3s that are able to purchase games, you could pay them to buy you games with their accounts. |

Thanks for that, I'm on an F2 but will try all of these options over the weekend. Cheers |

I've never used Steam, nor have I tried to "gift" a game digitally on the PS3, but I still think I can answer your question.
You have 2 options:
1. Get/Give a PSN card similar to an electronic gift card.
2. Your PSN store downloads are linked to your account. In the past (I know Sony has changed this policy at least once, so I'm not sure of its current status) you could download a game a maximum of 3 times, so it could be possible to log on to 3 different PS3's and download the game to each. If the same user tries to access the PSN network at the same time on different systems, I'm not sure of what the consequences are. Your best bet is option 1. |

Be careful of add-ons. I have purchased some that wouldn't work. For example, I have an Asian region (Taiwan) Little Big Planet with a Japanese PS3 and an American PSN account. I could buy the add-on and install it but couldn't get it to show in the game. Happened for Borderlands as well. FIFA10 worked just fine though. Seems like a crap shoot. |

Worth repeating.
I got damaged by LBP and Burnout before I learned my lesson (and some 50, 60 $ poorer). Worth checking if there is a warning regarding a disk ID (that identifies the region and game, I guess). Other addons work fine though (e.g. PAIN). |

Fifa 10 worked for you?? I have the Asian version of Fifa 10 and downloaded Ultimate Team off my US PSN account. It says that it is not installed and I have to reinstall it. The new Adidas jerseys and the Real Madrid stadium don't work as well.
Asian Ver. Fifa 10
Japanese PS3

Asian ver. (I think, region 3 but everything is in English except for a some characters on the back of the box)
Jap PS3

I bought that real season thing (forgetting the name, still groggy) where you pick a team and play the team they just played in real life. It works fine. Not sure about anything else. |

In my experience, make sure the region of the game and the DLC match. It doesn't matter where your machine is from. I had different usernames set up on different networks, one for Korean games, one for US games. I also had one set up on the Japanese network to download freaky demos that don't come out in the US for 6 months .
Example, if you buy an Asian game, get a Taiwanese PSN account. Not sure how to do that, for the record. (the interwebs are mighty full of information, though)
This DLC crap makes it worthwhile to pay playasia.com to send you the US version of games, when possible. I learned the hard way with the original Modern Warfare, but just sold my Asian copy to my buddy and picked up the US one. |

This is good advice. I have a Taiwanese PSN account. Thanks to it I was able to get the free LBP DLC as well as the free Batman challenge maps/play as the Joker DLC. It takes under 5 minutes to get one, and what's really nice is the PSN store is still in English. I haven't tried to get purchased DLC from the store yet though.
And in case anyone is curious, I have an Asian/Korean version of Resident Evil 5 and I got the new DLC chapters off the US store with no problems. |
