It is very minimalist. I used to listen to artists like the synth duo 'Suicide'. Some of their tracks were so repetitive without any musical breaks at all.

I can only say I am very fussy when it comes to music, but I keep wanting to listen to my own tunes. Therefore, I am forced to say my music is brilliant, otherwise I wouldn't like it. Laughing

I like to hear your feedback, good or bad. However, I don't like much of the music talked about as 'all-time greats' on this thread, so it doesn't surprise me some of the feedback will not be appreciative of repetitive minimalism.

Anyway, that's partly why the tunes are not too long and it's also why this is a one-off project. The tunes I have work well, but there aren't many of them. The reason for this is because I was entirely self-taught, so my style of playing was quite unique, this meant only some tunes work well, while others didn't.

For over 6 years I didn't play the piano, but this recent one-off recording was done because I genuinely missed hearing them.

I am not the kind of person that can kid myself into liking something which is rubbish, especially if it is my own work.

In fairness, there are few albums I like. I tend to like assorted tracks of various artists. It is rare in my experience to find an album where you actually like every single track.

On my album, I've included only the best tracks, there aren't many, but they are the most enjoyable tunes that I put together.

I used to spend countless hours at university, playing the piano in music rooms.

This album will be online in music stores in the next few weeks. Once it is done, that will be Bass Piano finally laid to rest. It will be farewell to it all.

It's like something I needed to get out of my system. I felt it would be a shame to have spent so much time making my own tunes a few years ago, without anybody actually hearing them.

They 'work' and are well worth a listen.

I deliberately wanted only one instrument on this album. It's a live performance, the actual performance hasn't been edited, but the best parts of the performance have been joined, looped and faded out. The not-so-good bits have been deleted.

I'm over 90% happy with the album. It sounds like a good quality live demo. Laughing

The album that always comes to mind when someone asks me what "the best" or "my favorite" album is, is Semisonic's album Chemistry.

But that's mainly out of sentiment.

Best new-ish albums:
Ramona Falls' Intuit
WHY?'s Alopecia
B.C. Camplight's Blink of a Nihilist

Best old-ish albums:
The Turtles' Eve of Destruction
Stephen Stills' Manassas

Hmmm... I mean, it's hard to choose...!!!

And blues is just bleached out, flavorless lifting of 19th century roustabouts.
Please mind the slippery slope.

My album has now turned into an E.P. There are just 5 tracks on it.

It's like a good quality live demo. It's not the greatest album of all time.

It's above average though. Laughing

I don't expect to sell many albums, but I intend to give any money earned from it to charity.

Anyway, they say the best things in life are free. Cool

I'd like to prove I'm 'for real'.

Anybody, who wants the entire 5-track album totally free via email is most welcome.

Give me your email on this thread, via pm, or email me here:

As I've already said, I just want people to hear the music.

Then, I can close the final chapter of 'Bass Piano'. Laughing

I love how all the posters, with the exception of 2 or three have totally ignored the o.p's track and he still jeeps piping in with a little plug about his own music, which, in turn is ignored by the posters Smile

I imagine him to be jumping up and down saying 'it's me...but me..hello??'

If I'm wrong I apologise, but I took that song in an Andy Kaufmann type of humour vein. You know, a joke that makes you unsure of what the intent is. Is he serious or not? I checked it out and was laughing appreciatively as I listened to a song that had been built up so much, but sounded remarkably similar to the kind of music that would play when you put a Super Mario type of game on pause. I realised that the people who were taking it seriously had been cleverly duped. Good job.

And if I am wrong, then even though I didn't think it was great, good effort for putting it out there.

Thanks for your comments.

I did like some of Andy Kaufmann. The music is tongue-in-cheek, but it's not a total joke. I am limited by my lack of skill. Remember, I taught myself to play piano.

Most rock and roll is repetitive, but I used to enjoy Sigue Sigue Sputnik. They used to have songs on just one note which would then only change for the chorus, 'Tuneful' by Bass Piano follows the same format.

I have an epic sounding tune called 'I Love You'. That track is over 4 minutes and doesn't change at all. Strangely, it interests me, even though it has a relatively long duration. Laughing

I call it 'purposeful monotony', you are about to get sick of the repetitive tune, a short musical break occurs and then it's back to the main theme again. Laughing

Damien Rice "O" and 9

Rootless Tree-- "extremely emotional and strong" and "swear word" alert.

Volcano--my favorite live music.

9 Crimes --also the best MV ever.

What a pity he is no longer with Lisa Hannigan.
