I've heard that CORT operates a shop in Seoul where one might procure the services of a luthier for custom-jobs and for a damned-good price. Is there any truth to this? We left our axes in the states and would mind at least investigating this mythical place. Also, if such a place exists, where is it? Addresses are ok, district-neighborhood-directions from nearest subway station is +1. |

I seem to remember there being dozens of guitar shops around Jongno 3-ga Station in Seoul. |

You have my thanks. In the spirit of great camaraderie, I lift my glass of Jinro to you. Maybe I'll go look at guitars when I come to later today. |

Nakwon Arcade.
I'm new here myself, but have already done a little shopping there. It's the same place the other poster mentioned- if you're not finding it, just start asking strangers in Insa-dong...
Best,

See Lance. He makes good ones. Damn good tech, as well! [email protected]. Shop Near Itaewon. Studio, gear, the whole works. Tell em' bald headed Mike sent ya! (With the 83 Ibanez Roadstar) He laid my axe WAY out cheap! In Korea 3 years, (now gone) he's the best I encountered while in Sparkling Korea. Deeleebob is his shop. # is 011 730 4716. Near Noksapyong station. Rock on!

I visited Nakwon Arcade a few weeks ago. I'd thought Cort was the cream of the Korean crop as well until I tried a few Swing guitars. They were better, period; for the same price or cheaper. I was surprised, because I'm a pretty big Cort fan (have 2 back home). The store I tried them at carried plenty of Corts, but they assured me Swing was "best in Korea", and he was right.
Whether they do custom or not I'm not sure. They have a "custom shop" on the website, but it's mostly signature models http://swingguitars.co.kr/. I'm sure you could contact them, as well, they look like a small-ish operation. |
