Do you hear this as an excuse a lot in your PS?
I have in my schedule 'special classes' that I only teach maybe 10 times in the semester? I don't really know. I don't mind these classes, and all that I ask for each time it's brought up is a schedule for it. Every time I ask I'm told that the teachers are very busy. Today I was sent a message stating that one of the special classes was coming today for 5th period. Never mind that at the time I was in 4th period with only lunch before the 5th period (luckily enough that there was lunch). My co-teacher said, "Oh, it's because the teachers are so busy." and that my handler is out sick today, so she couldn't tell us. Well, she wasn't out sick on Friday when it might have been better to tell me, so why didn't I get a schedule.
My co-teacher also suggested that I check the school's website for the lunch menu, and when the information hadn't been updated, it was because "The teachers are busy."
Do you get this a lot in your schools? I understand that everyone is busy, but, what are they so busy doing, when nothing's getting done? Oh.. that's right, everyone's busy walking around the school taking a tour of the other classrooms (an activity we had to do last week.) |

Hi There,
They may not be doing much at the moment. it is true that they have planning and paperwork that they have to submit to the board of education.
They can also be asked to do tasks quickly by the principal and then a lot of them are gunning for promotion by taking on extra work.
I heard that at the PS teachers can build up professional 'points'. The more they build up these points the brighter their professional future is.
No excuse for not preparing the lesson though...ha ha |

last minute is definitely the norm in korea. i wouldn't worry too much about this, although i understand it's annoying. either always have an extra lesson planned out for situations like this or just do a conversation class with your special class when this happens. |

I hear the 'teachers are so busy' when none of them turn up to teachers class. No skin off my nose. |

The teachers at my school really ARE busy... problem is, Im just another thing on the list but Im waaay down the bottom there somewhere. And if there isnt enough time and something has to be bumped off the list, it always seems to be me. But my handler didnt seem too happy to be working with me in the first place, so im not too surprised about it. Not that it makes it ok or anything... |
