I'm painfully new to forums, yeah I know one of those ppl.
The agency is planning to place me in Incheon so this would be a good time to poke.
My top 5 things I'm going to Korea for
1. Culture, the real stuff that's kinda outdated and old (the Tripitaka is cool and is why I like Daegu. Plus Daegu is more coastal and maybe laid back?)
2. Scenery, and nature and all that hearwarming stuff. (read, anti-black smog seoul)
3. Safety--Incheon being so close to a major trade route kinda makes me nervous that i'll disapear into the crowd never to be seen again.
4. Typhoons-- I like natural disasters and the east coast would be cool. (Seriously) I lived in a Tsunami area and actually waited at night for ppl to take the practice horn seriously. No one did but the winds sure kept me awake.
5. Good Jobs Hagwon or public school. I actually have no preference. I don't mind the huge class size if there's a co-teacher. Hagwon, a little nervous because of the severance scraps I heard about.
Would you recomend Incheon?? Drinks are fun and I'm sure I can find that anywhere. Or would Daegu be a good alternative I should suggest. Pardon my denseness, but are there as many jobs in Daegu as Incheon for a beginner? (Probably not because Incheon is trying to "convert" to English)
I am waiting for the criminal check. Beginning to teach May/June.

i lived in incheon, good city. you have everything you need. plus you are close to most things. like the airport to make long weekends away easy. you can go to the islands on the west coast easy too in summer. and seoul is generally never more than an hour away. i liked it there. daegu i cant speak about, but i hear its hot as hell in the summer. |
