HI - Thinking about trying to learn Korean with the website www.koreanclass101.com.

Has anyone tried it, and if so, would you reccommend it?

Also, it says 7 day free trial, but what are the prices after that?

I have, it's pretty good if you're in a concerted study sort of state of mind, but once you have a membership they will pretty much bombard your inbox with lessons and promotions. If you're looking to have a good stream of new content then this is ideal, but I tend to get into it for a couple of weeks then get distracted and go off to something else. I eventually set there emails to be auto marked as read

Basic membership is 4 bucks a month, premium is 10.

I tried it but I don't like the radio talk show format. The idle chatter doesn't really interest me.

That being said, if you can get to the higher levels where all the talking is in Korea its much more useful. At least to me.

Easy to follow and good conversational Korean. Everything is fairly well explained too. I did the free trial and downloaded about 20 lessons. You could download more if you wanted.

But as another poster mentioned the random chat is a bit lame.

thanks for the link... just trying it out for the first time now. I like how they have the notes that go with the audio lesson, and the themes. Kinda useful. Only tried the food first lesson so far, but now i can say that bulgogi is delicious! Which it is! jal meokgesseumnida!

I recommend www.talktomeinkorean.com

Its free and they have mp3 files and a PDF file to go along so you can see the translation.

The site is relatively new so most of the material is for beginners. I've completed the first 20 lessons and its really helpful.

The site it run by Hyunwoo Sun who used to work at koreanclass101 but now he owns his own company.

I also got really tired of the teen talk show format of Korean Class 101. Seems to be about 80 % English chit chat with 20 Korean Language. I would have to try to skip over the chit chat part, then replay the Korean part 3 or 4 times to try to catch it. Just wasn't a good format for me.
I really liked the Pimsleur format better. I rarely have to replay anything because they say new phrases slowly and repeat them a few times.

He's a really cool guy and he travels a lot, so he's usually off doing something interesting. He posts small conversation videos, some videos all in English, and some in all Korean. check it out and subscribe, I love his channel!

My only problem with the lessons is that they put notes on an iPod, but they're transcribed into English. What use is that to a person who can read Hangeul? I really don't get that.

Still, if you can sit at your computer and study that way, it's great. I wish they'd make it more convenient for subway-learning, though.
