Hello folks,

I'm currently working at a university but don't have a Master's degree. If I did, the bump in pay and reduction of weekly teaching hours would be great. I've begun the steps of enrolling in the U of B program, but would need to spend 2.5 years to obtain their MTESOL.

Recently, I learned that some foreign teachers in Korea have gone through AIU to get a 10 month (!?) M. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. I don't yet know about the cost of the program, but it's certainly appealing in terms of time.

If anyone has knowledge or experience with this program and can help me out...

Good idea? Bad?

If it's a Master's degree that can be completed in 10 months, then it's probably not a very good degree. That sounds like it may not matter for you. I'd check with your school and make sure that they would be willing to accept that degree. If you're getting it only for the bump in pay, and your school will accept the degree, then the only thing you really need to look at is cost. (PS: is this an online degree?)

Their admissions looks really lax. You basically only need a high school diploma to get into the undergrad program.

Yeah, it's sort of a "cheat the system" option I was considering, given Korean standards. But I doubt it'd be very useful outside the country. And after finding out the price, I think I would be the one getting cheated if I shelled out $22,370 for a 10 month degree. MA TESOL with U of B is $10,000 less.

Can I get "life experience" credit at this educational/money making enterprise?
