My laptop just died. I just need something basic to tide me over. I am in Northern Seoul but can travel within Seoul to pick up.

Go to Yongsan, (sun-in plaza) and get yourself a cheap desktop (twice the power and 1/2 the cost of a laptop) and dispose of it (sell, strip, give away) when you head home.

200k gets you a NEW tower and 100k can get you a basic LCD screen (new).

200k can get you an older (last year's) dual core system (complete) if you don't mind used. Just add your favorite flavor of English windows.

ANY laptop new or used will cost you more than double the cost of a cheap tower.

This is good advice.

I was in the exact same situation. My laptop broke down and I needed a new one. Went and bought a new one. It worked out great!

Good luck OP. Cool

+1

I agree. This one is a no-brainer. Get a new laptop, that way the old laptop will have been replaced, and your laptop void will have been filled.

Or figure out what's wrong with your laptop, and hit up Ebay for parts...
(Had to get a new power connection node for my laptop... 8 bucks w/ shipping on Ebay, took my motherboard to a guy in Yongsan and paid him a couple of bucks to take off the old node and solder the new one in place... Put it all back together and works like a charm Very Happy)
