MJ 'emergency tape' fake
Washington, Feb 25 : A recording of an emergency call that's being reported as a transmission from the paramedics who took Michael Jackson to UCLA on the day he died has been exposed as a hoax.
The recording, which has emerged online, was believed to feature a Los Angeles Fire Department medical worker calling the UCLA hospital.
A voice on the tape says: "Patient is Michael Jackson, the pop star singer. No pulse, no breathing. Unresponsive. Tried to resuscitate him. Unsuccessful.
"We''ve done everything we can. We should be there in five minutes. It doesn''t look good. It doesn''t look good".
But Los Angeles City Fire Department Captain Steve Ruda has dismissed the tape as a fake, because the alleged paramedic breaks the rules by naming the patient and fails to use the correct terminology.
"It is not our conversation. It is not any of the paramedics who treated Michael Jackson," TMZ.com quoted him as saying. |

The late Father of Sexology and Johns Hopkins Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Pediatrics Dr. John Money described the phenomenon of "pedophilic genius," giving as examples Lewis Carroll (author of Alice in Wonderland) and J.M. Barrie (of Peter Pan) whose love of children inspired them to create their masterpieces which in turn have inspired many succeeding generations of children.
It is fairly clear that MiJac was both a pedophile and a genius, but does he qualify for Money's category? It would need to be established that his love of boys is what inspired his artistic creations. There is evidence in at least some of his productions, e.g. the "Black or White" video featuring 13-year-old Macaulay Culkin, and his cover song "Ben," from the movie about a boy and his pet rat, so I would have to conclude that yes, he does. |
This upcoming book may shed more light on the controversy and sounds like a compelling read:
Michael Jackson's Dangerous Liaisons

The book has gotten very good reviews from some prestigious academics:
| Professor James R Kincaid, University of Southern California wrote: |
| The most engaging, informed, and generous-hearted book we have on the subject or are likely ever to have. I recommend this book strongly to anyone who feels our self-righteous egoism may have gotten in the way of our ability to see what is in front of our eyes and to act with some measure of justice and kindness. |
| Professor Thomas K Hubbard, University of Texas at Austin wrote: |
| Shows that the only real 'abuse' of children that occurred was not from Michael's bedroom horseplay, but parental manipulation of kids for financial gain. As such, this book gives us a profound cultural critique of received assumptions about childhood innocence, pedophilic 'power', and parental goodwill. |

He writes:

Read here the unthinkable. Carefully documenting the many relationships of a celebrated entertainer, the writer promotes an alternative view of boy-man sexuality. It can be, he contends, mutually positive. It can be more than sexual caring, bonding, loving.
This very readable book is packed with extensive research on Michael Jacksons 'dangerous liaisons'. It portrays his sex partner preference, without doubt, as males those nearly or recently pubertal. And, the author argues, such pairings need not be condemned.
Many readers will be outraged. Their convictions about the evils of any boy-man sexuality will prevail. But whether or not one is convinced, shaken, or even stirred by the author, this is a recommended read. It isnt just another book about Wacko Jacko. There wont be anything written quite like it. |
There are others. |

Syringe used to killed MJ going for $5 million
Usa/ All'asta per 5 mln usd la siringa che uccise Michael Jackson
L'asta fissata per il 25 giugno, anniversario morte pop star
New York, 17 mar. |

Things keep looking down for Murray:
Jacksons Doctor to Lose Medical License
Wednesday March 24, 2010
| Quote: |
A PETITION has been filed to prevent Michael Jacksons doctor from practicing medicine.
Californias Attorney General submitted papers Wednesday stating that Dr. Conrad Murray should have his medical license restricted while he faces involuntary manslaughter charges relating to the singers death last June.
The petition states Dr. Murray who is accused of administering the prescription anaesthetic Propofol which killed the pop legend of poor professional judgment and placing the life of a patient in jeopardy.
Attorney General Jerry Brown said, The defendant is alleged to have administered a lethal dose of Propofol and other powerful drugs to patient MJ, which resulted in the patients death. |
Joe Jackson to file wrongful death suit against Murray
| Quote: |
Michael Jackson's father is preparing to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the King of Pop's personal physician, Dr Conrad Murray, amid allegations he administered the drugs that ultimately killed his son.
Murray has pleaded not guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter after Los Angeles prosecutors charged him with administering the powerful anaesthetic Propofol to Jackson minutes before the singer went into cardiac arrest last June and died.
Joe Jackson wants Murray held to account for medical malpractice and he has instructed his lawyer Brian Oxman to begin proceedings to file the wrongful death claims in Los Angeles County Superior Court next week.
Oxman tells TMZ.com the Jackson family patriarch is seeking an unspecified amount of punitive damages, economic support, loss of companionship and loss of consortium.
Joe will be the only Jackson named as plaintiff, unless Oxman is contacted by other interested family members.
However, the notice of the legal action has angered Murray's lawyer Ed Chernoff, who is confident any such claim will not be awarded.
He says, "That's like throwing a bucket of water on a man drowning in the ocean." |

Of course, Jackson committed suicide!
Nice try, Murray, but I don't think so.
Dr. Conrad Murray's Defense: Michael Jackson Killed Himself
Posted Apr 5th 2010
TMZ has learned Dr. Conrad Murray's legal defense is that Michael Jackson gave himself the fatal dose of Propofol.
Multiple sources familiar with the strategy tell TMZ the defense argument goes like this:
- At around 10:50 AM, Dr. Murray gave Jackson 25 mg of Propofol from a 20 ml bottle -- that's only about 1/8 of the bottle.
- The dose Dr. Murray administered would keep someone asleep for only 5 to 10 minutes, but the Propofol, along with the Ativan and Versed that was already in MJ's system, had a synergistic effect that put Jackson to sleep for a longer period of time.
- For the next hour, Dr. Murray stayed in the room and was on the phone for much of the time. Dr. Murray didn't leave the room to make the calls because MJ liked activity in the room, regularly sleeping with the lights on and cartoons blaring on the TV.
- At around noon, Dr. Murray left the room for approximately two minutes to go to the bathroom. While he was gone, the defense believes Jackson suddenly awakened and was frustrated he had spent nearly 9 hours trying in vain to sleep. The defense theory -- Jackson took the 20 ml bottle of Propofol and self-injected the remaining contents through the IV, causing a massive overdose that stopped his heart.
- Dr. Murray walked back in the room and saw Jackson with his eyes open and pupils dilated. Dr. Murray dropped the phone (he was speaking with his girlfriend) and began administering CPR.
The defense will argue Michael Jackson was a long-time Propofol addict -- something TMZ first reported shortly after the singer's death. As one source said, Jackson liked the sensation of Propofol being administered by IV, adding, "Michael liked to push it."
L.A. County Coroner's investigators took a picture in the room, showing an empty Propofol bottle on the floor, underneath the nightstand by Jackson's bed. The defense will argue Jackson grabbed the bottle from the nightstand, injected himself and then dropped the bottle.
Remember, law enforcement believes Dr. Murray hid bottles of Propofol before paramedics arrived. The defense will argue ... if Dr. Murray was really hiding Propofol, he would have removed the empty bottle under the nightstand that caused Jackson's death.
Ed Chernoff, Murray's attorney, could not be reached for comment. |

The article gives a date for the hearing on revocation of his medical license, but not for the criminal trial.
Michael Jackson manslaughter: Trial date set
Wed, 07 Apr 2010 5:17a.m.
By Linda Deutsch
With Michael Jackson's mother, father and three siblings looking on, Dr Conrad Murray began a slow process toward trial with the appointment of a judge and the setting of another hearing to handle pending matters in his involuntary manslaughter case.
Murray made quick back-to-back appearances in separate courtrooms Monday.
First, Supervising Superior Court Judge Peter Espinoza assigned the matter to another judge for all further proceedings. Then, spectators, media and fans followed Murray down to a lower floor where he appeared before Judge Michael Pastor.
...
Trina Saunders, a representative of the attorney general's office, asked that the hearing regarding Murray's medical license be held sooner than June 14, but the judge rejected her request and said all pending matters would be handled on that date.

Today is the one-year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death/murder. A bunch of stuff is planned around the world.
Fans in NY, LA, elsewhere remember Michael Jackson
By NEKESA MUMBI MOODY (AP) 26 minutes ago
NEW YORK As the first anniversary of Michael Jackson's death drew near, Julia Thomas clutched her "Thriller" liner notes and stood outside the Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, Calif., the final resting place for the King of Pop, with about two dozen other fans.
"Michael has just always been a part of my life," the 40-year-old Thomas, who has a tattoo of Jackson's dancing feet on her left wrist, said Thursday night. "I'm just hoping to embrace the fans from everywhere."
Barricades were already set up at the Los Angeles-area cemetery for the huge throng of fans and some of Jackson's family members expected to arrive on Friday, which marks a year since Jackson died at age 50. Five large wreaths of flowers and dozens of bouquets, drawings and photos of Jackson had been placed outside his private mausoleum.
Evdokia Sofianou, 46, and her 9-year-old daughter, Rebecca, traveled from Athens, Greece, to pay their respects.
"I came because I love Michael very much," Sofianou said. "I came to grieve."
Forest Lawn was to be just one of the many places around the world where Jackson's fans would gather to remember their fallen legend on Friday. But not everyone planned to be grieving.
On Friday, DJ Jon Quick was to spin Jackson tunes at the club Taj in Manhattan for a festive affair.
"They wanna celebrate his life and music," Quick said of the expected partygoers. "His albums are like timelines in your life. You can remember what you were doing ... when 'Thriller' came out."
Some anniversary events began even before Friday. In London, a memorial was unveiled Thursday to a gaggle of press who packed the foyer of the Lyric Theatre, the site of an impromptu wake following the pop superstar's death last year.

Michael Jackson's Death Could Have Been Avoided With a Brain Monitor Says Anesthesiologist
Press Release Source: Dr. Barry Friedberg On Tuesday December 7, 2010, 11:22 am EST
| Quote: |
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Dec. 7, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- About 80 percent of the surgeries performed in the U.S. put patients at risk of being inflicted with delirium, dementia or death because a brain monitor is not used by the anesthesiologist.
That is one of the secrets unveiled in a new book recently published by Dr. Barry Friedberg, an acclaimed anesthesiologist who has become a much sought-after expert on the role of propofol in Michael Jackson's death.
"The simple use of a brain monitor during surgery to measure the effect the anesthesia is having on the patient will prevent all risk of over-medication and almost all risk of under-medication," stresses Dr. Friedberg, author of Getting Over Going Under: 5 Things You MUST Know Before Anesthesia (ISBN 978-0-9829169-0-2, 2010, Goldilocks Press, 116 pages, $18.95).
Dr. Friedberg was the featured expert on propofol cited in the August 20, 2009 People's Magazine article on Michael Jackson's death and has been interviewed by several radio and television journalists about Michael Jackson and his physician.
An anesthesiologist with more than 30 years' experience, Dr. Friedberg has developed a new standard of care for the administration of anesthesia that virtually eliminates any damage to the brain during surgery and prevents nausea and vomiting after the patient wakes up. By adding use of a brain monitor, the Friedberg Goldilocks Method eliminates the danger of over-medication and almost all risk of the patient waking up during surgery.
"You have to live with the long-term consequences of your short-term care," stresses Dr. Friedberg. "Goldilocks anesthesia avoids the nefarious practice of routinely overmedicating you for fear of under-medicating you. Goldilocks anesthesia is always just the right amount, not too little or too much!"
Dr. Friedberg says the major reasons a brain monitor is not used during surgery is because the $20 cost cannot be billed to Medicare and most major insurance companies, surgeons and anesthesiologists are resistant to change.
"But if the patient insists on use of a brain monitor in the right way their request will be granted most of the time," adds Friedberg. "If not, the patient merely has to exercise the power of the dollar and go to another hospital or facility that is willing to use a brain monitor."
At his website, www.drbarryfriedberg.com the author offers three free letters that can be downloaded for use in requesting use of a brain monitor. The form letters are for the intended surgeon, anesthesiologist and the hospital administrator. |

Jackson's doctor to stand trial
Last Update: 1/12 10:08 am
Michael Jackson's physician has been ordered to stand trial for involuntary manslaughter.
Los Angeles prosecutors have ended their case in the preliminary hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to try Dr. Conrad Murray. The lawyers finished ahead of schedule - after just six days of testimony from forensics experts, paramedics and former employees of the King of Pop.
In his closing statement, Deputy District Attorney David Walgren told the judge, "Michael Jackson is not here today because of the negligence and reckless acts of Dr. Murray."
The defense filed a motion to dismiss on Tuesday but that was denied, and Judge Michael Pastor has ruled there is sufficient evidence to warrant a manslaughter trial.
Reports suggest the Deputy Attorney General, who represents the Medical Board of California, has asked the judge to suspend Dr. Murray's license to practice medicine with immediate effect.
During the six days of testimony, phone records showed Murray spent hours chatting on his cellphone and texting when he should have been monitoring his heavily-sedated patient, while Jackson's security staff recalled the doctor's inappropriate behavior after finding the King of Pop lifeless in his bedroom.
One security guard, who was called to Jackson's room by Murray, told the court the physician asked him to remove IV bags containing a milky-white liquid, believed to be anesthetic Propofol, from the pop star's bedside.
Jackson died from an overdose of the drug, which a Los Angeles forensics expert declared should never have been in the King of Pop's home in the first place.
If convicted Murray faces a maximum of four years in prison.
**************************************************
It is a bit insane to prescribe a surgical anesthetic to induce sleep at home. Murray's malpractice does reach the level of criminal, IMHO. |

Cherish flawed geniuses before they are gone
Geniuses are flawed as most of the time, greatness is often accompanied by glaring defects. The passing of legendary entertainer Michael Jackson reminds us that some of the most gifted people with immeasurable talent and creativity are tortured souls with eccentricities. It is as if greatness and weakness come as a package, and their gift can also be their curse. Genius and madness are separated by a very thin line.
Jackson was not alone in this category of people who managed to mesmerise the world with their talent, and at the same time shocked us with their peculiarities. The King of Pop was not the only talented singer who went into a reclusive life towards the end of a career that was dogged by financial problems, scandals and ill-health due to excessive medication. He joined a long list of entertainers whose lives came to a premature and tragic end. Among them were Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, Bob Marley and Marvin Gaye.
Some of the most prominent leaders of the world too showed awkward tendencies and their idiosyncrasies often marred, if not overshadowed, their contributions. Sir Winston Churchill was a great motivator during World War II but a disaster during peace time with questionable policies. It was Churchill who said: The price of greatness is responsibility.
John F Kennedy, then the fresh face of innocence who inspired hopes for the US in the 1960s with his charm and confidence, had a tryst with destiny that saw many odd detours.
In sports, flawed geniuses have continued to surface but somehow, they inevitably fall from grace, usually during the peak of their careers. The demands on such public figures usually take their toll on the sports superstars private lives... |
