|
|
Hello~ It's my first post here ^^
I brought my MacBook Pro into work today because I'm not a fan of the machine I have at school. When I connected the LAN cable, it kept saying I wasn't connected to the internet. I tried copying the settings from the PC to the MAC but it didn't work I set all the numbers (IP, mask, DNS)manually according to the PC settings, and nothing -_-
I'm working at a PS in Hwaseong, if that will help at all?
Thank you for any advice~! |

I haven't been able to connect mine, but even if I did, I'd be wary of having my security breached. Download anything you may need to the school computer, put it onto an external hard drive or usb stick, then transfer it to the mac. It's slower, but safer. I do all of my work on my mac, but keep the school computer on for internet stuff. |

Ah~ Really? Hmm well I don't really have any sensitive documents on my Mac, it's brand new and most of my files *are* on an external HD that I leave at home. I want to use the Mac for internet lol My work PC can't see korean or type in korean and it's very difficult working back and forth with my co-teachers, plus it's just annoying >_< hehe.
But thank you for your reply.
Does anyone else know? Thank you~ |

From what I understand..... which is not much... you have to give your computers address (number) to the IT teacher/guy/girl at your school so they can put you on "The List." Which would allow you to connect. I have to do the same thing for my iPhone's wireless but... I haven't done it yet. So i'm not really sure about anything. I just wasted 2 minutes of your life... or did I?!? |

Aah~! Perhaps this is the key. I wonder what my number is? Thank you for the suggestion I'm going to contact the "computer guy" and ask him if he can add my laptop to the "list" hehe |

What you're talking about is the MAC address. If you're using Ethernet you can find it under the System Preferences>Network>Ethernet it's a format like 00:12:aa:03:b4:f2 For wireless it's under the Airport tab (select your wireless network) and you'll see "AirPort ID" at the bottom of the window.
You can also use Terminal and do ifconfig -a |
