|

5 years ago I left South Korea only to return to see friends. I could have stayed but found that foreigners were becoming less and less accepted.
Anyway, my quality of life is much better and I don't regret leaving. As a lifer, do you regret staying? |

So you don't regret your choices, but clearly the choices of OTHERS must fill them with regrets. Interesting assumption. I find a lot of people on this board - those who are lifers and those who are OUT yet still frequent the board have the life philosophy "the grass is always greenest on MY side." Yes, indeed, everything you have ever done has been right. |

Just curious on what I potentially missed out on. |

Weird question. Who knows what you potentially missed out on? Everyone's experience in Korea is different, just reading this board highlights that. I often think half the posters here live in a Korea in a parallel universe!
If a 'lifer' regretted staying, then surely he/she would leave? It's not a prison, and we have the right to leave at any time. I've been here for four years, and when I stop enjoying it I will not continue to work here. |

Man, I wish I was that optimistic. Though my hats off to anyone that feels that way.
I've always felt the opposite, "the grass is always seems to be greener on the other side." At the same time though I regret nothing.

I regret not having the chance to say "Do you want fries with that?" day in day out for minimum wage. |

Get a dictionary.
Anyway, it seems like your goal in posting here, 5 years after leaving Korea, is to convince lifers, and even short-timers, to get out of Korea as soon as possible. It's hard to take posts like these seriously coming from you. |

Regrets? No, sorry, I can't help you. What's up? Are you perhaps looking to pad your own smugness with some hard luck stories of people who weren't as wise as you in their life choices? Perhaps you're having some doubts and want to reassure yourself that you made the right the decision. Of course, maybe you're just curious, in which case you might have framed your question with somewhat less bias toward the negative. Or, additionally, you might have provided some context for your curiosity. As it stands, I'll just rewind and replay. Regrets? No, sorry, I can't help you. |

regrets?? emmmmmmmmm sometimes YES! becuase I felt like my life was heading on a good path back home.. but I threw it in to be back in the orient! I was still captivated by all the mystery here, that faded away quick though hahahahah but after like 4 years had past which went quick. I felt it was to big a move to fly back and start again.. so I thought I will invest more time here and make something happen...
I had many options if I look back 10 years ago... hard to know for sure what would have happened! anyway...
WHAT IF! WHAT IF! ......yeah... WHAT IF!............. |

It's entirely possible you'll say the same thing 10 years from now. (Which is why I'm getting out this year.) |

I believe none should regret staying, unless they thoroughly dislike the place.
