I just want to warn anyone here that is told that The Devil and Daniel Johnston is a good film - I hope you enjoy watching a 2 hour movie about an introverted hack loser.

Great, great movie about the relationship between one man's creativity and his mental illness.

'The Cove' was good - very disturbing though! Poor dolphins Sad

Speaking of biased documentaries. The Cove was a good movie, but unfairly picked on Japan only. The same kind of disgusting dolphin hunt is happening in Denmark.

Maybe the filmmakers want to make Cove 2 - the sequel. Shocked

Actually now they're picking on a sushi restaurant in L.A that was serving whale.

It's stupid to eat whale anyway. The bigger the fish, the higher concentrations of mercury. Not exactly something I want in high concentrations in my food.

The same way that steak stays in your intestines for up to 6 months, right?

Hey! No one said that red meat was good for you. Very Happy
Speaking of meat, you should watch Food Inc. if you haven't already. Cheap meat = not healthy.

Wow, has no one really mentioned Food, Inc. yet? Great doc! A must-see for sure.

Actually, you might not care if you're not from the States.

It's unbelievable how powerful and dominant some of these giant food corporations are; and yet, they remain under the radar.

I just finished watching this one, thanks. It encouraged me to invest in a small cap water company I've been looking recently.

(MWG.L) Modern Water PLC (Listed on AIM in the UK for anyone who is interested)
The company owns a range of water technologies, including a cutting-edge desalination filter that cuts the energy cost of the process and results in fewer hazardous chemical byproducts.

The Thrilla in Manila- fine retrospective of one of the Ali- Frazier fight.

Facing Ali- Ali's career retrospective- biased but good interviews.

Murderball- wheelchair athletes, pride, betrayal, redemption...I think one of the best films about sport ever made.

Unforgivable Blackness - Ken Burns on Jack Johnson (the boxer).

Many other fine docs are in the previous threads on this subject, already linked.

I like Daniel Johnston and introverted losers. :/

I forgot in my last post The Daddy of Rock N Roll about schizophrenic "punk" musician Wesley Willis. He was just so interesting and a fabulous visual artist to boot.

Interview With an Executioner is a documentary about an American prison warden who turned against the death penalty. Made for Amnesty International in 2003, this short film was shown at the United Nations International Film Festival, among others.

I don't think anyone mentioned Cocaine Cowboys.

The Frontline shows from PBS are documentary like news shows. They are really well done. If you like documentaries, you'll probably eat those up.

I've also been watching the VICE magazine channels on VBSTV.com.
