So it looks like EPIK really wasn't the way to go in the early days. I've read countless terrible reviews about them and between 1997-2002 they seemed to really screw over a lot of people.
Well it's been 8 years since. Has anything changed? I was wondering if anybody has any recent experiences or interesting insight about EPIK. I'm just beginning this process and their name has popped up a couple of times as a possibility. Thanks. |

With EPIK, where you end up is a crapshoot. You could have a wonderful year in a private/pubic school - maybe in a city - or you could be stuck out in rural rice-ville, in a school where you're not particularly welcome - and with students who have no Englishee.
There's not guarantees.
Good luck. |

Some countryside or smaller towns may be more slack. But a bigger city, regional city, or provincial capital could be more strict about working conditions. More work, etc..... What has been your experiences in Korea? |

No experience in Korea at all actually. I worked in Japan for a year at a DOD school on Okinawa but never left the island. It was a great experience but never got to see mainland or other countries.
With that I'm completely new to the Korean system, ESL in general, public vs. private, EPIK, GEPIK, SMOE. Just trying to see if there's a good system out there or if it's mainly a crapshoot. |

No complaints 2008-2010, but then again, once EPIK finds a school for you, you don't really have much to do with them, working conditions depends on your school. |
