I just got Cable n More's internet and cable bundle at my apartment in Goyang. I was told that it was 100mbps but my speed on speedtest.net average around 4mb which is way below the average for the ISP. I understand all of the nuances of download speed (bytes vs. bits, time of day etc.) but I just expected a lot more.

Does anybody use C&M? What are your download speeds? Can anybody give me the names of a faster Internet service in Goyang?

Thanks everybody.

Are you in an apartment or officetel?

I got Qook's Internet package and it booted me everytime I played Warcraft. The engineer told me it was somehow my macbook's fault. Rolling Eyes

Later I switched to LG and haven't been happier.

Conversely, my friend who lived in an officetel had internet but during peak times his download speed would be horribly slow.

speedtest to China is extremely slow.

use the Korean site:

http://speed.nia.or.kr

use IE

on the top, there are 5 "tabs" in Korean. mouse over the left tab (tab 1), then click on the left tab that appears underneath.

then:

you'll see some text. under the text, there's a small box that says "next" in Korean, and has a small arrow. click the box.

next page has drop down boxes to select your ISP, your type of connection, your location, the "gu" of your city, and what kind of a building you're in. you could try leaving it as it is if you can't read Korean, but your results won't be as precise. otherwise, get a Korean to help you out. this will give you your correct speed Smile plz post here when you're done.

i'm on SK Broadband 100 Mbit, and get 94 up and 95 down. I'm ok with that Smile

jeez man, you got 95 download speed?! That's insane! Well some installation dude came here and said that the wiring in my building was no good or some BS. I did get a flier from SK though, and I think I will switch to them. Hope there isn't a fat penalty fee. Oh well. Thanks for the help everybody! : )

Thanks for the more accurate speed check website. There is no option for C&M. Is there another name for it? I can try to find out, and I will post the numbers. Thanks again guys

nice heh?! the lower teh ping the better. mine is like 1.2. i think that's kind of amazing. still, it's really awesome speeds. all for like $20/month. comcast would charge over $100 for something like this, but they'll have it available in 10 years Wink

100% Propaganda. The site is useless as an actual speed test. But, whatever helps you sleep, even if it is a delusion.

Code:
Thanks for playing along.
