Anyone seen a decent bread knife around? You know the kind that has the big wide teeth on it for cutting soft bread without tearing it to pieces.
I've dug around e-mart and a few other shops and come up dry. |

I bought an awesome one in Gwangjang market in Seoul.
I think it cost 3,000won. It's a big, long, proper bread knife that does its job perfectly. Gwangjang market also has awesome bindaedok, and it's a lovely place to drink makkoli if you want to make a day of it. The yukhwae is also fantastic. (raw beef and asian pear). |

I've seen them at least a couple times at those little stores that sell all sorts of cheap stuff. The Korean equivalent of a dollar store. I think they were 20-30cm long. I think I saw one at the cheap store in Songnae station (Bucheon). I'll take note of it next time I'm there. I wasn't really interested because I can rarely find decent bread, so I've given up and accepted that I'll be eating that cheap presliced stuff that they sell at supermarkets or Paris Baguette.
I've also seen cheap plastic things that resemble a short bread knife whenever I've bought a sponge cake. I suppose those would wear out really fast though. |

I was at HomePlus today and I saw that they have real bread knives there. The blade is 25-30cm long. They also had butter knives if you're looking for those.
Unfortunately what HomePlus DIDN'T have was any type of bread that would require such a bread knife. |

Start baking^^ The wife and I (mostly the wife) have taken up baking to make some decent, thick, crusty, harder bread - blooming delicious!
On topic - bread knives are plentiful in markets and home plus has a great selection of kitchen-ware^^* |

Bread knives....For years I couldn't find them here anywhere, but they are starting to pop up here and there. There are a few good shops online, KalMart being a decent one. |

I missed your post earlier somehow. But about the bread, I totally agree!! I use the spent grains left over from brewing beer to make absolutely delicious bread. A cup and a half to two cup or so chopped up in the whizzer, mixed into the dough is f'ing awesome! |
