Where can I find white eggs? I need them in order to make Easter eggs. I've been scouring town, but have only come across brown eggs.
Also, anybody come across the plastic Easter eggs?
Thanks. |

Funny that you asked this...just last week I was at emart and they were selling white eggs. I commented on it because I was so surprised. |

Are you sure the white eggs at E-Mart were chicken eggs? Duck eggs are white. A friend tried using duck eggs one Easter and they stank the place up pretty much when he boiled them. |

this is showing a total lack of ignorance, but what's the difference?
I've never seen a white chicken egg before, only on tv. |

Some breeds of chicken lay brown eggs and some lay white eggs. The color of the shell is the only difference. It has no effect on the taste, etc. |

which is what I thought, so why does the op want white eggs?
Are they better for making Easter Eggs or something? I am not taking the pi$$ here, I'm actually intrigued. |

In the US, chicken eggs are white. You can get brown eggs, but they're more expensive. You boil them up, then you dip them for a while in different colored dyes, so you get pink, powder blue, etc eggs. Then you paint them with semi-soft glue and dip them in glitter, or whatever you like.
I guess I didn't know that other countries had eggs either than white as a staple. I saw brown eggs in England but I thought that was a health thing. |

Pretty sure the only difference in egg color is that white eggs come from white hens and brown eggs from brown hens.
My mom just sent me an egg dying kit for fun. Looking forward to going to Emart one day That's where I got white eggs around Easter time last year. |

The Korean tradition for Easter is merely handing someone a hard-boiled egg. The rest of the trappings we're used to in the West are absent here. |

No, they were definitely white chicken eggs. I had never seen them before, so it was ironic. |

I know people that swear eggs from some places (countries) are "richer" than eggs from others -- I personally can't tell much of a difference. Some brands sometimes have darker yolks than others, but I'm not sure what causes that. (Maybe that's where some of the free-range thing comes in?)
For those who want to give it a try but don't have ready-made dye, it's easy to make egg dye with food coloring and vinegar - just google up a recipe or two, or check out

And to the OP - I haven't really looked for white eggs yet, but I'm going shopping today. If I see some I'll update. |

The commercial egg dyes are barely visible on the brown-shelled eggs. |
