The subject says it all really.
I'm with Qook with a set-top net/cabletv box, and as of recently, the internet disconnects whenever I start a torrent program.
Strangely enough, the TV feed keeps running uninterrupted.
The only way to reconnect is to restart the set top box.

Has this happened to anyone else, or do you have advice on how to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

In my family they also have a Qook, and the machine has to be reset often.

This without torrents being used what so ever.

Happens to my friend. I'm pretty sure they are throttling you when they detect torrents.

Go to options/preferences/bittorrent/protocol encryption and change to enabled or forced. This might stop your isp detecting you.

Alternatively as the above poster said, it might just be your crap modem or router crashing under the strain. In this case you could try reducing the number of connections in the bittorrent preferences.

It happens to me upon occasion also. I'm not sure if my ISP is throttling my torrents because hit happens very infrequently and I download torrents all the time. What I've notices is that the router my ISP gave me gets hot to the touch. I'm wondering if it's just simply over-heating? Anyway, a quick pull of the power plug generally fixes things.

This happens to me ALL the time! I can't download torrents anymore. Even if I set the maximum connections to a very low number and block uploads it still kills my connection after 5 minutes or so.

It's very annoying to say the least.

I had this problem on my old 54mb router, because it simply couldn't handle the high volume of traffic. My internet speed was too fast for the router to handle, so it would hang if the downloads were too fast.
I upgrade to a 108mb, and so far so good.

I had the same router on my KT connection and had no problems. I moved house and now have a SK connection and can't use torrents. It seems to me that it must be SK blocking my torrent traffic?

Happens very occasionally when I'm downloading multiple torrents with loads of seeder and leechers at the same time. Pulling the plug on the router usually solves the problem.

OP here.

So, apparently the problem was that I was using Panda Cloud Anti-Virus.
I have no idea why this was causing a disconnection that required a restart, but disabling it completely fixed the problem.

Had the same problem with my old Vista install after moving and signing with Qook. Fire up BT, anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes later, no internet...everytime. Tried everything to fix it; I even downloaded BitComet. Worked great for a week, then the same thing, almost like KT learned what BT program I was using, then shut it down.

Since installing Win7 and getting the Qook box removed (kept the internet service, but no TV box) all has been well.

Regardless of the # of torrents, obfuscation enabled/disabled, no probs now. No silly Korean police warnings either. I think the Qook box is one big piece of controlware.
